I for one have 2 tests this morning, but then I'm feeling pretty good about the rest of the week!!  I get to babysit my Khole tonight and that always pumps me up!!

Also, We're having a cold snap, and it's supposed to get back up into the 80's by the end of the week, but it just gets me SOOO excited for Falllll!!! And the Tide shut out North Texas on Saturday (41-0!!)!! SEC conference play starts Saturday.. Oh! and I've recently discovered Nutella!! That stuff is amazing!!!! I love it on whole wheat toast or even just on a spoon for a delightful snack that's not terrible for the waistline!!

I have no idea what is going to get me through this week. I had a week from hell last week and my weekend wasn't much better. FI and I had a fight on Saturday (if you can call it a fight) and things are just weird right now. He's supposed to be coming home this weekend to work on wedding stuff, so I'm hoping we can get everything resolved today. I definitely need a pick me up this week..I hope FI and I can get back on track.

I gotta go to Crossfit 3x this week - I only went twice the last two weeks.  We slept in today (poor FI is so tired, he's burning the candle on both ends) but we might go tonight.  I always sort of dread going, but I'm always (or at least usually) glad I go and feel better afterwards.  And I am definitely seeing results already!  Haven't trimmed down yet, but firming up significantly.  And I was told that's usually how it works - you firm and tone, and then once you build the muscles, then you start to burn off the fat and lean down.  Works for me!  I still fit in the same sized clothes, but it just looks better.  Eventually I'll drop weight, but that's not my main goal - just to feel and look healthier.

No real work goals.  I had a huge accomplishment last week, and my boss tried to take credit for it.  So I'm not feeling particularly motivated to go get another accomplishment.  I have a feeling if this sale goes through, then I'll be fighting him for the commission, which might turn ugly (for him - I have everything documented, so I'll end up smelling like roses) but it's never a good idea to get in a pissing match with your direct supervisor.  We'll see how it goes - I trust the upper management to see what's really going on rather than just take his twisted version of events as fact.  I wouldn't even challenge him if it was just for credit - he's welcome to take it - but it could mean a $5k commission, and there's no way I'm just turning that over.

I don't have any real motivation except knowing I'll be home for the weekend on Friday - in Virginia Beach. I'm really excited about that.. I had a pretty up and down week last week and this weekend was eventful. FI threw his back out again and we spent Friday night in the ER. So... it's just one thing after another. I really need to book a DJ but honestly at this point I don't even care anymore. Bad.. but whatever. I just can't wait for some yummy fish taco's and pizza and knowing where I'm at! It's the first time I've been home since we PCS'd six months ago.

Sami - I LOVE LOVE LOVE Nutella! That stuff is amazinggggg!

I think I may have found my dress. Which has been a sourse of stress for a long time.

I am going to visit my FI in a few weeks. So excited. I had wanted him to come out here because I went out there last and it is emotionally draining on me to leave him. But he would have to take off 3 days of leave, which we have gotten to the point that we need to budget leave out for christmas/ wedding.

Amanda - pics of the dress?!

Sami - good luck with the tests!!!  How the heck have you missed Nutella up until this point?!  Try it on a fresh croissant.  Amazaballs.

YoungDuo - I'm sorry you guys had a fight.  That's a real bummer, and it certainly can ruin a weekend.  I think sometimes distance, especially with wedding planning, can put a ton of stress on a relationship.  Hopefully some face-to-face time will help!  Try to carve out some non-wedding time to just enjoy being together.

Sami- I love nutella! De-freakin-licious! Amanda- congrats on possibly finding the dress. I really like that dress! Very pretty! Calindi- glad you're feeling some results from crossfit! Last week I was doing really good running and eating right. While I was having a terrible time being motivated with schoolwork. This week it is the opposite. I hope to find a happy medium within the week. Something has got to give.

Yes the distance is stressful, especially this close to the wedding. We are going on a 4 day trip to NYC on Oct 1-4 which I am super excited about because it will be the vacation we need. And after that he has already taken leave for the Wed, Thurs and Fri and we both have Oct 10 off for Columbus Day. We're going to try to go the our local fair since it will be in town. We'll do a little wedding but mostly just NWR stuff which will be so nice :)

Aww thanks for the shout out Sami :)

Stan- Your H left right after your day too? Glad I'm not the only one..  Yay for him coming back and you getting to be newlyweds :)

aww young :( I'm sorry that you have had a crappy last week and a fight with me :( Maybe the fact that last week was so crappy will let you make this week much better? I'm sending positive vibes your way! I'm sure he will get back and you two will be excited to just be together for a bit that everything will fix itself. That often happens with Fi and I when we get into a long distance tiff.

Amanda that dress looks GORGEOUS on you! it really does.. Congrats on finally getting closer.. What's holding you back from saying it's THE DRESS?

I wanted to kill fi this morning. He has a late flight last night with a different squadron so one of the guys in the squadron needed to know a bunch of info from his flight to get it logged so he started texting at like.. 5 am. We went to bed at midnight. JEEZES MAN!?!?! So now it's 9am and I'm missing my morning gym class (it's okay.. I'll go to the evening class) because I'm exhausted.. *sigh* fail.

Today I'm Motivated to scrub the house clean! Tomorrow is a busy wedding day, so today is a scrub day before the in-laws get here.
We have already had a BUNCH of changes to the wedding. FYI, everyone seems to wait until the week before to change things on you.
    Examples:
    - 3 people last minute rsvped yes (after I have already given the caterer our numbers and finalized and made the escort board.. now we have to add a whole new table and rearrange)
    - my mom decided she wants to get her hair and make up done with us so I have to call them
    - My aunt just now gives me the programs she printed, and there are all kinds of mistakes. So she now has to reprint them which costs US more money even though they were HER mistake..
-our officient who told us she could do a nonreligious ceremony has just informed us that she has two places of "prayer" in the ceremony.. uuuuhh.. that's... not.. nonreligious..?!?

Welcome to my wedding week? hahahahaha :) Fi and I were stressing out so much this last weekend that we just stopped everything, went and sat at a Starbucks with pumpkin spice lattes, and laughed at the things we are worried could go wrong. It was theraputic to talk about those "fears" and laugh at them together. :]

    Happy Monday, everyone!

Now that we're unpacked (pretty much) my Mom has started sending my boxes from Utah (stuff that couldn't fit in a suitcase, about 9 paper boxes), so more unpacking. Also, keeping a closer eye on the dog so that we cut this chewing thing out as much as possible, and a job interview Thursday (and the continued hunt). Also, trying to keep FI from losing his mind while he waits to be re-classed. He had his meeting with  the Col. last week, and it seems like they really like him and his attitude and educational background, so they're saying it's probable, but I wonder if they say that to everyone. Even though his command's been really positive about it, the consequences of him not being re-classed simply suck. So he keeps a good attitude in front of the guys and his family and his COs, but at home he has a hair trigger right now, and we don't find anything out til mid-October.

Stan-Hurray for getting some time together!
Cal- That sucks about your boss, I've had one similar and just wanted to strangle her. I've totally been following what you write about Crossfit, I'm curious, but a big chicken and not at all in shape, so I like hearing how it goes.

I wasn't in shape at all either when I started - I'm still slowly getting there, and even people who have been going for a long time still have to tone down some of the workouts.  It's just how it goes.  But there are tons of people who are ridiculously out of shape who see huge improvement - you just have to be extra careful not to overdo it an hurt yourself, that's the big risk.  I've been focusing on my form and doing quality vs. quantity of movements (meaning not heavy weights, or cutting down on the number of reps if I feel like it's too much for me).  There's a guy who goes in the mornings who has been going 6 months and has lost over 100 pounds - it's pretty impressive!

I am doing low carb, but I LOVE carbs! :) I am doing well today, however... but it's only 10:50AM here... ha ha! Anyway, I need to stay FOCUSED! :) I CAN DO IT! Also, I started a brand new blog yesterday, first time blogger, and I am so motivated to write about something everyday! I am thinking about what I should talk about today... its a cosmetic product focused blog, but I also want to incorperate all of the DIY for the wedding, and the crafting that I will also soon be involved in. Any suggestions ladies?

To fill a carb craving without eating carbs, try nuts.  We bread chicken breast in almond slices (we toss them in the food processor or blender for a few seconds to powder them a bit and break them up into smaller pieces, adding salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc.) and then grill in canola oil with a bit of butter for flavor - so darned good!

Also, shred cauliflower in a food processor or blender to replace rice.  Don't cook it (or just dip quickly in boiling water to soften slightly).  The texture is very similar, and it ends up filling that same niche in dishes like indian curries or something similar.

If you need recipe ideas, I've got tons.  Check out marksdailyapple.com for some ideas, too!

My favorite is to cut a small pocket into the chicken breast (carve a 1" hole on the side, and wiggle the knife back and forth inside to make a pocket without creating another hole elsewhere).  Grind up some spinach, and stuff in there with sundried tomatoes & goat cheese (or blue cheese, if you prefer), or spinach and pesto for a healthier cheese-less option.  Then dip in egg and bread with the nuts.  After you sear the nuts, you might still need to bake it at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or so to ensure the middle is all cooked.  But so yummy!

Huh, Calindi that cauliflower idea is GENIUS! We don't do "no carb" but definitely lower, espeically lately. Though I fit into my dress so hell with it! :) But seriously, love the idea of that. We also did yellow lentils the other day with Indian instead of rice. H was all cry baby about it until he ate them and loved it. Another good substitute.

Amanda, your dress is gorg!!!! Let us know if you stick with it!! So pretty!

[QUOTE]Not quite sure that Nutella belongs in a "healthier lifestyle", but it's definitely delicious.  And a life without Nutella entirely would be a life not worth living for me!

I know it's not SUPER great for you, but it's way better than the alternative? haha.. I'm not sure what that would be though.. chocolate frosting? My boss recommended it as an afternoon pick me up.  It totally works. Especially for the 2 days per week that I get up at 3:30am, get to work at 5am,  leave work at 1pm, go straight to class, ect, ect... Those are long days and I usually eat 3 meals and 2 snacks per day, so I count 1 tbsp as my afternoon snack (A serving is 2 tbsps).

    Amanda I love your dress.

FTL You will have an awesome wedding. Remember the drama this week doesn't matter as long as you get married :)

I don't know whats motivating me this week. I plan to start working out again since I feel blah lately. I am also still debating taking my GRE's and applying for a ph.d. program that would make the next few years very poor for me, but I don't know if I want to wait much longer.

It's really not good for you - it's mostly sugar.  I mean, I eat it, but always as a treat or dessert.  It's especially good on pancakes or crepes - yum!

    <a href="http://www.nutellausa.com/nutrition-facts.htm">http://www.nutellausa.com/nutrition-facts.htm</a>

200 calories per 2 tablespoons, 100 of those from fat.  Worst of all, 21g of sugar.  Sure, it's better than a Milky Way bar, but it's not ideal.

Here's a good website for figuring out how good/bad food is for you:

    <a href="http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-meijer-nutella-hazelnut-spread-i144077">http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-meijer-nutella-hazelnut-spread-i144077</a>

My recovery drink after a workout is chocolate milk (full fat - about 1/2 cup), one scoop of soy protein powder, and a banana all blended together.  But I wouldn't have that any other time of the day - my body needs the extra fats after Crossfit, but not in the middle of the afternoon.  For a healthy pick-me-up, try almond butter (be sure to get the kind that is just almonds, not sugar and dextrose and fructose) on apple slices.  I also bought a whole bunch of little baby food packets (I know that sounds weird, but when my friend was visiting with her little boy, she left these little pouches and I looked at them - beats, apples, and carrots.  That's it!  So I tried it and liked it.  Other varieties had sweet potatoes, apples, and cinnamon or peas, broccoli, and pears).  They're low fat, high fiber, and decent protein depending on what flavor you get.
