Let's talk tuxes...

We went into Savii last weekend and tried on some tuxes for my groom/groomsmen.  They priced out at $160/each!  I was expecting more like $120-125.  Am i just way off?  My groomsmen are going to spend more on their tuxes than my bridesmaids spend - including shoes and alterations!

I think they are cheaper at the Men's Warehouse.  I can't remember. We went to Savii first and then MW and priced them.

I got mine at Savvi for $135 because I won a discount at a bridal show.

And same with my BMs vs GMs, which is why we are helping out the GMs with their tux costs. The BMs get to keep their dress and can wear them again to other functions (I'm letting them pick the style and fabric, I picked the color- a shade of pinkish coral that looks pretty good on all skin tones), but the GMs are putting all that money into something they wear once and don't even have the option to wear again.

We are thinking of doing the same thing, actually, "sponsoring" our tuxes.  My fiance's tux is free, after all - so we might just take $150 or whatever and spread it out evenly.

I did go to MW too - and wasn't that impressed.

Men's Warehouse is about the same. My fiance is getting his for free because he had enough men in the wedding party to qualify.

To help lessen the cost, my fiance is purchasing Converse Chucks for the groomsmen so that they dont' have to rent the shoes.

We went to Mens Warehouse and it was horrible experience.  No help whatsoever.  I ended finding a coupon one of the prospective venues had for Savvi that gave the groom and the father of the bride a free tuxes.  Savvi was totally great.  We ended up having several fittings because we couldn't decide what colors, vest, tux we wanted.  I would totally recommend them.  I think our groomsman paid around $130 for their rentals.

I'm convinced that Savii is overpriced.  Everyone gets a "deal" there but its still expensive.  Our GMs were also priced at $130.  My FI said thats the most he's ever heard of paying for a tux, the past weddings he was in were under $100. I'm starting to look for other places, any suggestions beside Mens Wearhouse?

My daughter just got married on  July 3rd. We also looked at Savvi & Mens Wearhouse. We didn't like the experience at either place. At Savvi, some of the groomsmen were concerned about how each article of clothing would fit as a couple of them had measurements taken that didn't seem right. The only thing the guys could try on there were the jackets. For example..They measured my husband for his pant size too far above his natural waist. Urkel style!! and said oh if that is not right we can fix it when the suit arrives.  What the heck!!!! They also were a little expensive. At Mens Wearhouse they have tuxes you can try on there but not in all sizes or styles. The 6'4" usher was measured totally wrong and everything bagged & sagged. Looked awful! Then they tried to sell us a suit for my husband that needed so much altering that it would have been cheaper to have a custom suit made. Also we thought the tux rentals were a little high.

However we found a place that I would highly recommend.. King Tux Rentals in Kennesaw right off Barrett Pkwy. They have the ENTIRE tux right there for you to try on (jacket, pants, shirt, vest, tie, suspenders, shoes etc.) There are several styles and colors so you can actually see what it looks like on. They fit my husband perfectly. Tom was very helpful and patient. Their tuxes run about $120.00

Try King Tux Rentals in Kennesaw. Great experience and you can actually try on the Entire tux ensemble to see what it looks like. Cost about $120

At those prices my idea of asking the men to purchase a suit is looking not so crazy- i want an off color- something more tan/beige which is hard to find at rentals- and the girls had to shell out 100 for dress + more for shoes- I dont see why the guys can't shell a little for a suit that they too can wear again.

thanks for the king tux referral i will look into that also.

King Tux Rentals! It's 119.99 for everything if you want the tan suit (or if you want a black tux).

You  get your choice of colors for the vest and tie and the price includes shoes!
They are priced about $40-$50 less than Men's Wearhouse and about $60 less than Savvi!
The Groom's tux rental is free with 5 additional paid.
By far - they have the best tuxedos (way better) and their price is lower. I don't know why anyone goes anywhere else!

We actually are using a company in Peachtree City called Celebrate Tuxes.  Their prices were lower than both MW and Savvi, they didn't charge us that ficticiuos "wedding party registration fee" (seriously, what is that for??  To just put us in the computer?), service was wonderful and matched our BM Dress colors from David's, groom and ring bearer got their tuxes for free AND we got a coupon for free shoe rental so all the guys have matching shoes.

They also told us that they would deliver all the tuxes to the venue the day before and we could leave them at the venue by Sunday at noon and they would pick them up for free.  (I think they'll also meet you in Atlanta to select your tuxes and take your order too but we were already in the store so that part didn't matter to us)

The difference was seriously night and day between the stress we felt at the other 2 stores.  We couldn't believe how easy it was.  They are located right off of Highway 54  and phone is (678) 457-4698.  Hope it helps -- sure did help us!
