Candy Buffet Question

I can't decide when we should put our candy out...do we put the candy out right away or wait until closer to the start of dinner?

We have around 20 kids attending and will have 1.5 hours of cocktail & hors d'oeuvres before dinner.  However, because most of our guests are OOT and won't be able to check in prior to the ceremony, I have a feeling most people will likely arrive 45-60 minutes prior.

Any advice on what you did or what you've seen at other weddings would be great, thanks!

You could maybe have it set up earlier, but have like a cloth or something over it, and then you could do like a big reveal later in the evening or something. Or maybe have it set up in a room next to the reception on a wheely table and have it brought in later. I just like the idea of the grand entrance of candy, lol!

That would awesome to roll it out, lol!  I'll have to check with my coordinator to see what they can do...I'm sure they have extra linens, so covering it should work too.  I just worry about the kids eating tons of candy before dinner because I know that's exactly what I would be doing if I was 10 again :)

We had ours out all night and it was a hit.  I also thought, should it be post-dinner only? Will it last?  In the end, it doesn't matter - we had enough food and cake to fill people up, so there was no advantage to after dinner.  We had it set out during cocktail hour, and I think it took the edge off before dinner (we didn't do apps/hors d'ouevres, but we did do late night pizza).  HTH
