[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Its 9:27, where's the morning thread? : Yeah sticking to your guns now is definitely the best way to go.  I hope the rest of this week isn't too horribly stressful for you! Kroger is really hit and miss for me.  When I lived in Clifton very briefly, the Kroger there was meh.  But the one directly across the street from me in West Chester was much nicer.  Sushi bar and lobster tank sound awesome! Edit: Hit OR miss, not hit and miss.

Funny, H lived in West Chester before we moved here.

  • I've never been to a Kroger. Is it like a Publix or more like Costco?

The seating would have been pointless for us. I'd say within 10 minutes of sitting down and eating people were already moving all ove the place chatting and whatnot.

Whisky did lap up some of the cat milk. So I'm glad he has something in his stomach.

Like Publix Sesh, just a nice grocery store. I actually had my coupon folder set to each aisle.

Costco and Sams Club are the same here, big warehouse stores.

  • What on earth is a Publix? It's not like Costco though so I'll say it's more like a Publix. Really the closest comparison is a Meijer if you've got those.

We are right by King's Island actually. No roaches here (I would absolutely die...I hate beetles of any sort) though FI says they've got tons at his work. I am not sure where Clifton is..

<div>I think we figured out awhile ago that he lived right down the street from where I did! I was just a few miles from IKEA down Union Centre Blvd.  I didn't really like Cincy very much as a city, but I freaking loved that apartment and the area that I lived in.  It was so nice and the rent was so reasonable.</div>

</div><div>Oooh gotcha! I like the area by KI.  I looked at a few apartments in Loveland, actually.  Clifton is the area by UC.  It's kind of an up-and-coming area, or at least it was when I lived there a few years ago. </div>

  • Good morning!

I'm dusting and then doing a paper for my comp class...it's only 1000 words, but I'd rather be outside.

Maybe I'll do the paper outside...hmmmm.

[QUOTE]The weird thing about the lack of Kroger in NE Ohio is their headquarters are in Ohio. So I find that strange.  It's usually my grocery store of choice.

<div>That's why I thought it was strange too! Especially since there are Krogers in northern IN, so it surprises me there are none in northern OH.</div><div>
</div><div>H is from Ft Lauderdale and talks about missing Publix all the time.  He worked there when he was in HS and still has stock there. </div>

  • We got our wedding cake from Publix too. I love their produce section, but they are more expensive so I don't shop there as often.

<div>I've found that in the long run, it's more economical to pay more for better produce.  If I get better quality produce, I actually WANT to eat it, and it lasts longer before going bad.  If I get the lesser quality, cheaper stuff then it's not nearly as appealing to eat, and it goes bad quicker, so I end up throwing a lot out. </div>

  • I don't really notice the difference, LP. I don't buy enough at one time that it goes bad, whether I get it cheaper or not, and we're pretty goood about only getting the stuff we really like. It mostly all tastes the same to me, too.

But it seems like Publix is more expensive with everything, not just produce. Our Winn-Dixie has better deals and specials.

<div>You are probably just a better shopper than me. I buy things impulsively, thinking that I can use them in X Y and Z dish, and then I only make X before the produce starts going bad if I get the lesser quality stuff.  I still waste more than I should though even when I buy the better stuff that lasts longer.  I really need to get on the meal planning bandwagon to help me shop more realistically.  I know it's awful to waste any amount of food.</div><div>
</div><div>And on that note, I am off to get ready for the day.  Have a great afternoon everyone!</div>

  • Good morning, everyone. :)  We don't have Publix where I live, but I've always wanted to try their cake.  I've read that they have the best frosting.  Is it somewhat like a Whole Foods?  They carry more specialty items, lots of organic produce, grass-fed beef, and has a full bakery with all kinds of breads, cakes, cookies?

I've spent the morning working on finishing off our registries.  BBB is having a registry sale in our area next Saturday morning and I'm trying to figure out what we have money to buy.

We ended up not doing placecards or escort cards.  The original idea was to do escort cards (all the supplies were bought), but a month before the wedding, H was battling a health issue and my previously great relationship with MIL started turning south over said health issue.  Anyway, when I kept getting e-mails from MIL and others that so-and-so had to sit with Denise, and Sarah had to sit with Kathy and Brenda, I was done. We added one extra table just in case there was any overflow but it wasn't a problem.  I had no idea that adults would throw such a friggin' fit about who they sat with for 30 minutes at dinner.  People always get up and move and trade seats anyway (at least here) so we let them seat themselves.  We had no issues at all, and I'm so glad in our area that it wasn't a big deal and we could save ourselves the frustration.  I would definitely put my foot down on changes now, too.

[QUOTE]Morning. I got up early to help H work and now itt's raining. I should have just slept in. <strong>We just got back from the store and I bought like 500 different types of cat food since Whisky won't eat.</strong> So far, the liver-flavored one seems to be working. He didn't eat much, but it's better than nothing at all. I don't want to see Prometheus because they got my hopes up. I thought it would be about the god, not aliens. Now I'm just mad at the moviemakers for being misleading.

Sesh - Bo would not eat canned cat food either.  But he was like that before the cancer.  After the KD and AD rx foods didn't work, we ended up with canned tuna and canned chicken and would alternate.  I would also buy chicken strips, bake them and then shred them for him.  I also ended up with baby food in a vain effort to get some calories into him, but that was totally a non-starter.  Hoping the little guy eats, Sesh.

ETA:  I was sitting out on the front porch talking to my son on the phone and I saw something by my foot out of the corner of my eye.  It was a chipmunk that was sniffing at my ankle.  We scared the hell out of each other.  I've never had a chipmunk come up that close.
