For the MG's - Average Gift

Since a lot of people have been discussing how much to give at weddings lately, I was wondering what people REALLY end up giving. How much would you say the "average" couple gave you as a wedding gift? I assume in the end you probably end up with a total averaging around $100 per person invited anyway, since some people give $50 and others give $500 - but I am just curious as to what the most common amount ended up being.

We received about $100 per person.  As you said, that includes people who gave nothing at all, people who sent gifts who didn't come, and people who were very generous.   The range of gifts we received were from nothing at all to $50 per couple ($25 per head) up to $1000 per couple ($500 per head).  It really varies.

I just wanted to clarify, that in the poll, you were looking for average "couple"  not Per Person.  I am only confused because the post says one thing but then the poll says another.

EDIT: I voted average couple, not person.

Got married in August. The average gift was $250 per couple.

I did not vote as I am not a married girl for another 25 days. We give a minimum of 250$ and based on the friendship or family relation we add to that.

Wow, I can't beleive some people give nothing!  Or did you mean they give a physical gift instead of money?

I don't know what she meant, but yes, people do give nothing.
