So I was thinking of having a blue jean wedding. Not jeans and t shirts but jeans and a nice button up for the guys and sundresses for the girls (excluding me.) I will be having the ceremony but the reception will be outdoors. Neither he or I are fancy and neither are our familes. Its going to be more like a wedding with a family bbq after. I just don't want to come off tacky or disrespectful and I also don't to be uncomfortable.

[QUOTE]Good god no. Jeans have no place at a wedding.

my thoughts exactly!
One person as a guest showed up to my wedding in jeans and I was asked a few times by different staff members if he was invited or a wedding crasher looking for an open bar. to me its tacky no matter how informal.
for context, H and I are also laid back casual people and our wedding was not a stuffy event.

If it's your style and you're having a backyard bbq, i don't see a problem with it. I've seen it done in cowboy weddings before.
I found these pictures just in case you wonder what it'd look like.

and finally the Blake Shelton / Miranda Lambert BP

[QUOTE]I respect all your your answers and thank you for them. I was thinking about wearing a simple maybe sheath dress? no ball gown or princess dresses. And they will be new jeans in a darker color not acid washed, torn jeans here, and there will be no sneakers either. I just don't want to do that stuffy suits and tuxedos. I really like the pictures you posted mcda04

Based on your OP, it didn't sound to me like you were planning on wearing a ball gown. I'm glad you've confirmed.
You're welcome. I actually really like the look, if i would've had the backyard wedding i wanted, the boyd would've definitely been in jeans.
btw, i had a lot of guests show up in jeans and I didn't even notice until i received my video last week. It's not a big deal. Jeans can be paired with a button down and nice shoes for a casual laid back wedding. I'm far from formal and proper myself.

yea I didn't think it would look bad, I honestly think it wiould be just odd to see us all in fancy clothes. I just wanted some opinions from people to see if people had advice on how to pull it off. We are going to have the ceremony in our neighborhood church but they are so laid back I don't think it will be odd to be in jeans
Make some room for me on the bench of those who say jeans have no place at a wedding. The only way I could even consider switching benches would be if the jeans were brand new and in the darkest blue color that is possible, and did not have any stitching that shows.
My dad had wanted to wear jeans and a leather jacket to my brother's wedding since it was going to be a small wedding at a private house. Brother gave a come to Jesus lecture to him about weddings and that these are dress up occasions and if he had to hog-tie my dad and drag him to buy a suit and then personally dress him and escort him into the courtyard for the ceremony, then that is what was going to happen.
[QUOTE]This is such a topic of personal preference. It would never occur to my H to wear jeans to a wedding, he would always wear a suit, but that's what we're used to. I do have to say, though, it'd be OK with me if I was marrying Blake Shelton (although I had no idea who he was until The Voice). Kwitherington... I LOVE your BP pics! I had no idea your hubby was in jeans.

We're going to a wedding on Saturday and we went out and bought new clothes to gussy up in only to be told a few days later that the wadding is super casual. We ended up bringing everything back and have opted to wear things we already own that aren't "fancy".

H and his BM were in jeans. They both had brand new black jeans. It looked really good with a vest. You could always do black instead of blue
