Hi ladies! My fiance is in the coast guard and is stationed in Jacksonville, FL. We are both very new to the military lifestyle as he just graduated boot camp September 9th. I am currently living in CT and we are getting married in CT with our friends and family present. We got engaged 10.02.11 and our wedding date is 04.15.12.
Re: Hello!
Hi Megan! You should come around the CT board - they're super helpful with vendors and stuff. I've planned my whole wedding from Miami, and now that I have all my vendors booked it seems ridiculously easy. I couldn't have done it without all their tips and advice though! I'm getting married 9.1.12 in CT to a Marine.
I posted a bunch of Nautical pics in another thread today for a girl who was looking to encorporate the Navy into her theme. I really suggest going "nautical" and "anchor" rather than "Navy" since that's just him and not you, ya know? Weddings should be, in my opinion, about the couple rather than one of their careers. Unless it's an obsession for you both, like Stan who had a full-on America & USMC themed wedding that turned out fabulous!
Normally the 15th is tax day. Thats why I asked. I don't have my 2012 calender yet. I love sunday weddings :]

...which of course it means it falls on a week day every year?
Again... you make my head hurt. If you were seriously curious, you could look it up.
I think thats the page that made me want the lime and green! However I am concerned at how the groomsmen would look in black tuxes with blue bridesmaids, the thought makes me squirmy lol. I don't really like black and navy together. Also I have dress trying on set for Saturday Oct 15.

Ugh TK isn't working! I will try again... what about gray tuxes or suits?

Yay for trying on dresses! I really was afraid of it since I'm heavier than I'd like to be, but it was one of my favorite things.
I think if you do maybe a royal blue rather than a navy the difference is more obvious and it goes really well with the black. Like this:

Good luck planning!
I have just lost 50 lbs. I had weight loss surgery in August, so dress shopping will be really difficult, I should be atleast 50 lbs less than.
Royal blue would be nice, but wouldn't match with his dress blues lol These are the flowers I love, he hated. http://kiokreations.com/2010/07/a-bold-blue-purple-and-lime-green-wedding-at-the-wyndham-2/ I have just lost 50 lbs. Good for you!!! YAY!!! I had a love/hate dress shopping experience. I loved my dress but hated going into some of those bridal stores. I didn't like being man handled by the sales people. Then of course I almost passed out when I saw the price tags on some of the dresses.
I love the flower choice!
Good for you on the weight loss - be sure to ask about how far they can be taken in, as I imagine you'll lose more weight between now and the wedding!
Don't try to match the dress blues. They're meant to be a neutral. I think that royal blue would go nicely with them - it's complimentary, doesn't clash.
I'm a big fan of Navy blue and lime, I think it looks super sharp (and preppy): I posted a bunch of Nautical pics in another thread today for a girl who was looking to encorporate the Navy into her theme.
I will be getting married in CT where we are from. He is technically at the CG base in Mayport, FL is that where your FI is? Of course on the Naval base though.
Posted by Megan0416
My FI is at Mayport! IIt is a nice base.
OH and I also love the navy blue/lime color combos in that picture Calindi posted!!
Welcome to the board and congratulations! We will be going to Kings Bay soon!
We had a Navy and Bright Pink color schemed wedding. I loved it!
My "Wedding" Blog
H and I are Navy so we went with blue and yellow..
I SOOOO badly wanted blue and green (like what Calindi posted.. love love love) but those are Seahawks colors (my football team) and I didn't want every single person asking at the wedding if that's why we chose those colors, lol!
Take tons of pictures when you go dress shopping! it'll help you decide.. and we love dress-porn
How long have you and your Fi been together?
What are you doing in life? School? Mom? Work?
Congratulations and let us know if you ever need any opinions on anything
The one thing I will say about flowers, they come in all colors now.
ETA: a better pic of the flowers
And totally agree on the hydrangeas.. Ours did just fine for the ceremony and looked great, but then keeled over asap haha.. At least they lasted for the important part
