Jewelry

Have any of you ladies picked or started looking at wedding day jewelry?

I'm having a tough time deciding what I want.  My dress is ivory/champage with lots of subtle beadwork/pearls.  I saw a beautiful three strand ivory pearl necklace with some subtle bling in front but have heard from some that that might be too busy and take away from the dress.  Its tough since I can't try anything on with the dress unless I purchase and hope I can return it :-(

Re: Jewelry

  • Yup...I've got that all figured out.

Necklace:  My pearl necklace.  When my cousins and I were little, my grandmother started Add-A-Pearl necklaces for us and would give us a pearl for birthdays, Christmas, graduations, etc.  Mine was finished a few years ago.  I always knew that's what I'd wear for my wedding day.

    Earrings:  None, no pierced ears

Bracelet:  The bridal shop where I bought my dress sells custom made jewelry.  I have freakishly small wrists, so unless I have bracelets made I can never wear them.  They are making me a 3 strand pearl bracelet with a few rhinestone beads mixed in.

If the beadwork on your dress is subtle, I think you can get away with some bling in your necklace.  If you think it's too much, a simple 1 strand pearl necklace goes with anything.

  • I'm borrowing my mother's pearl necklace for my "something borrowed". It was a gift from a friend of hers that she wore at her wedding. And I purchased my earrings as my "something new"-- they're ivory and gray pearl clusters (gray is one of our colors, and my shoes are gray).

  • The only think that I have is my earrings.  They are blue diamond studs that FI gave me for our first Christmas.

I'm wearing my mother's pearl earrings as my something borrowed and old. The bracelet was her great aunt's. I'm wearing pearl earrings in my first holes and diamond studs in the othes (I have each ear pierced 3 times). No necklace I don't think. ETA: I'm also wearing a seed pearl comb in my hair.

  • I'm going to do a pearl necklace and earring set like THIS and a fun statement-type bracelet. In my hair, I'm going to do a sparkly hair comb like THIS

  • Earrings: My mom bought me some simple diamond and amethyst earrings for Christmas that I will probably wear for the ceremony and I may change into some more dramatic chandelier earrings for the reception.

Necklace: I'm not wearing a necklace because my dress has all the beadwork right at the neckline.

Bracelet: I'm going for a stacked look.  I'd like them to be a mixture of pearls and diamonds, but I haven't started looking yet.

  • Mine is all set! I've got a blingy headband for my hair, teardropshaped blingy earrings that dangle just a little bit, and a yshaped Swarovski crystal necklace that I just adore. No bracelet other than my Cape Cod bracelet because that never comes off. I've posted pics of everything before, but I can't do so now since I'm on my phone. :

I'm wearing faux, ivory pearl earrings, bracelet and necklace with a little bit of bling. I also just ordered a hair comb for my hair today that is also faux, ivory pearl and a little bit of bling.

The jewelry I got off of eBay (new - made by seller "livetobead") and the hair piece I bought today off of Etsy.

I understand the frustration with not being able to try it without buying it. This is my second jewelry set and second hair piece. I can't return the others. Luckily I didn't spend too much on any of it.

    Good luck!

  • I have everything except the hair comb. I'm not wearing a necklace as the top of my dress has beautiful detailing and I don't want to take away from that. For Christmas my FI bought me a white gold bracelet that I'll be wearing, and I my earrings are kind of long hung off a fairly large swarovski crystal post. I'm not planning on wearing anything in my second holes.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • Both of my grandmothers have pearl necklaces.  I'm hoping one of them will let me borrow it.  I've always dreamed of wearing a set of pearls on my wedding day.  Through everything else that has changed in my dreams, the pearl necklace has always been there.  I haven't bough earrings yet because I don't know if either necklace is part of a set.  If it isn't I'll find some earrings that look good with it. I don't know if I'm going to wear a bracelet or not. I like them, but I tend to fidget with them if I'm anxious/nervous/excited which I know I will be.

  • I got a pearl necklace and earring set as a bridesmaid gift a few years ago that I may consider wearing. The necklace is a thin gold chain with pears intermittently along the chain and the earrings are a thin gold chain with one pearl on the end, similar to the other Aimee's above. I need to see how it looks with my dress when it comes in, though. I definitely want to wear pearls.
  • I love how almost everyone is wearing pearls!  My mom just got back from the west coast (british columbia, canada) and brought me home an amazing sterling silver necklace and earring set with a single mother of pearl on each piece.  She knows me so well, I wasn't there and she bought it anyway - and I LOVE IT!

Can I ask where you found this necklace?  It sounds beautiful and I have not figured mine out at all!
