Uplighting Question(s)

Some I am really clueless about uplighting, all I know is I like how it looks!  Is it something you arrange with your venue or is there an outside venodor (if so, anyone have recs?)  TIA ladies.

I want uplighting too, and I would need to use an outside vendor.  I still haven't called yet, but I want to check out Griffin's Floral & Event Design.  I'm not sure if that was recommended on this board or what, but if you call let me know what you find out, haha!

I looked at Griffins for flowers and uplighting. The price for uplighting with them is 2500. It wasn't in our budget so that's why we didn't go with them. But if it's in your budget I say go with them. Russ is excellent to work with and very detailed.

I also met with Griffins...decided not to book with them for flowers since they were double everywhere else I went. He did show me a lot of the lighting options and it looks like he does a great job.

I think there was a vendor at the bridal show in January that had some uplighting.  I will see if I can find it again. . . .. .

We are looking into it also for our reception.  We really like the way it can make a room look completely different.  I also want to be able to make the room look 'pink' which is one of my colors.

OK I found it. . . . I got a DVD at the bridal show from a DJ company called Buckeye Sounds and they do the lighting.  They have a nice video on the DVD that shows the lights.  They look like they will make a really nice addition to the decor if we can get it to fit in the budget.  I have no idea of the pricing as its not listed on the DVD.

You can get battery operated can lights pretty cheap (in comparison) i think at saveoncrafts.com?

if you want color, you can get the color films to put over them.

I think Elegant Touch Events charges like $20 per light (maybe less, i can't remember) So even if you need like 20 lights, $400 is a lot cheaper than $2500!

I was married in 2008 and my DH and I did the uplighting ourselves.  It was pretty easy and only costs around $200.  We rented lights from a theater ligthing shop in Germain Village and bought the colored gels.  It was very nice and inexpensive.  I can't remember the name of the shop, someone is borrowing my wedding notebook.
