No lie...

Re: No lie...

• I did earlier, and I just closed the knot in fear that I would accidentally do something stupid.
• Well, if I do something on accident because the monkeys at the keyboards over there can't stop jacking off and fix this shiit, that's not my problem.
• Neat. Mod powers appeared for me as soon as I opened this.
I'm shocked that some random AE or troll or someone hasn't banned anyone yet.
• I have them too. I accidentally deleted a post on Registering, informed the mod and got an email from KA threatening bannation if it happens again.

i did try to sticky a post though and it didn't work.
• I'm just waiting on someone who got flamed in FFF to get mod powers and delete the whole thing.

• Amoro, earlier in your "Um Rach" post, for a few minutes it came up as being posted by Cosmogirl. Did anyone else see this, or am I hallucinating? I thought it was a new post, and clicked on it, and it was the same one. WTF Knot?
• Why must they continue to deprive me?!
• Mod powers. I still feel so bad about this morning.
• I'll see your frequent mod powers and raise you constant server errors...

:(
• I thought we were over the whole mod powers thing. And I know you guys aren't used to it, but those of us who ARE mods manage to see this on our boards all the time without accidentally deleting things or banning random people. It's not THAT hard.

• I've been seeing a lot of random switching of post authors and it keeps really really confusing me.

• I'm not over mod powers. I haven't gotten them yet, and if I do get them, I probably won't be smart enough to not "accidentally" mess with shiz.
• I've had mod powers twice this morning. I just click on the thread I was heading to anyway, not touching any extraneous buttons.

and ditto the 5 million server errors.

I just keep F5'ing until they go away, but they're SO frequent, stuff is bound to happen, wouldn't you think?
• Being drunk with internet power can cause temporary loss of control of one's appendages.
• Is there not a confirmation message when you click "delete"? "Are you sure you want to delete this thread/entire forum/whathaveyou?" Because that's just silly.
• Sure, accidents could happen, but the thread titles are generally big targets. And JK is right, there's a confirmation screen before actually deleting stuff. If people want to be drunk with mod power, then whatever, but that's a different story.

• FWIW - when I clicked on delete this morning - completely thinking absolutely NOTHING would happen, I got an error message. No "click here do you really wanna do it confirmation" and when I logged back in it was gone.

Was I wrong for clicking - YES /> My curiousity got the best of me, but I was SURE the MOD powers couldn't actually be real.

They are real people. So don't do anything bad cuz then you'll feel like a big D-bag and have to apologize to the poster. I'm still waiting on my email from the knot telling me I'll be banned for ever. DUN-DUN-DUN.
• Whenever I get them I immediately refresh because I don't want to accidentally do anything.

It's not hard.

• OR - strange idea - TK could just fix their shiit. Seems like everyone getting mod powers and then them threatening banning is pretty dumb when they could just pay the monkeys to DO THEIR JOB.
• I just had 5 server errors in a row. grrr.

• Why on earth would you pick someone else's thread to test the delete feature on? WTF are you thinking when you do that?

I don't think you can really blame anyone but IT for anything that goes missing as a result of random allocation of mod screens, ringpop. We have users and lurkers from all over the world here, and you can't expect people not to get curious and click a few buttons. It's absolutely ridiculous that the mod powers have been given to randoms once or twice, let alone continuing frequently over the course of a week or two.

Sure, but until it's fixed, shouldn't we all act like the mature adults we are and not randomly delete threads just to see if you can? Sure random lurkers will delete threads but members? Just to see what would happen?

Take responsibility for your own decisions as well. Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should.

• To clarify, I haven't deleted anything at all; I am yet to experience the power of the mods, but I do think that it's ridiculous to place blame on individuals when such lapses shouldn't be happening (particularly not over prolonged periods of time) in the first place. There's a lot of lurkers and AEs around, and I'm honestly surprised that one of those hasn't taken their chance to delete the whole forum yet.

But this is like saying that if someone leaves their car unlocked it's their fault someone stole their stuff. People really should know what is an is not acceptable behaviour and just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should.

If I walked past my boss' office and saw he wasn't there, but there was a spreadsheet on his desk of payroll information, I'd still get fired if I took it, copied it and distributed it, even though he shouldn't have left it there. KWIM?

• I think the threatening of banning is ridiculous because it's their own damn fault.

But I do think that people are dumb for trying to see if it works. On someone else's thread.

Posted by wadingmoose[/QUOTE]

Actually, I see it more as though someone walks up to you, gives you the keys to their running car, and then tries to sue you when you go and sit in it. Essentially, people are coming to the screen, seeing all of the options laid out there for their use and clicking on things to give them a shot- most of the time, presuming they're not going to work anyway. The intent isn't there as it is if someone were to break into an open car or check out payroll information, given that the user is unsure as to if the options they're clicking are actually going to work.

In any case, I'm not debating that people should exercise some self-control, but I don't blame them if they do, for whatever reason, fail to do so, because the whole situation is just ludicrous to begin with.
