Re: QOTD 9/26

  • Nope, nothing like that. I did have a fair amount of dolls and each week I had a different favourite but I didn't take it everywhere.

  • Yes. As long as I can remember, I've had a vintage teddy bear named Ted...real original, right? LOL. Ted belonged to my mother when she was a kid, so he's well over 50 years old now and still in surprisingly good shape for such an old bear. Right now he's living in my bedroom closet with a few other plushes and random childhood things I decided to keep. Part of me wants to pass him down to a third generation, but another part wants to keep him safe and preserved so he doesn't fall apart!

  • I had a stuffed bear named Buttons that I slept with every night from age 3-19...it;s just embarrasing.I didn't take her everywhere because my parent's told me she could get lost (I think they didn't want me to be one of 'thoe kids' who looks like a goof carrying their toy al the time).  i finally packed Buttons in a box when my relationship with my then boyfriend, now fiance, got serious.  She is currently in a box with some purses in my basement. M mom alwyas joked I would walk down the wedding aisle carrying my bear instead of flowers!
  • A stuffed dog named Toto. I think he's on a shelf at my parents'.

  • I have a stuffed Little Foot from The Land Before Time. When I was small (6?) my parents were terrified of what would happen if I lost him, so they ordered a back up, which is at my dad's house in pristine condition.  I carried the original by the neck, so he's a little worse for the wear. I used to sleep with him as an extra pillow until FI and I moved into together. Now, he lives in the office. Our kitty likes to cuddle with him.

I don't recall anything. I had a hammock full of stuffed animals when I was little and we found out I was allergic to some type of dander or dust that collects on them so I had to get rid of everything that collected dust. I was so young I'm surprised I remember that!

  • Yes, I had a stuffed dog named Puddles.  He was given to me when I was born and was always with me when i was a kid.  The poor thing is falling apart and has been stitched up more times than I thought was possible.  He lives on the top shelf of my childhood bedroom at my mom's house...I call it his retirement home LOL!

  • I had two, a Jammie pies doll and a zeddy bear. I took both of them everywhere, including when I moved to korea at the age of 22. Now both of them are currently living in a Rubbermaid container with other childhood stuffies. I plan on giving them to my children, but like a pp said I do worry that they would be destroyed. Fi has a stuffed duck named jake, who currently lives on his computer monitor.

  • Yes, I had a teddy bear named "Teddy" (I was very creative with his name) that went with me everywhere except school when I was little.  My aunt gave him to me when I was born.  I still have him and use him for cuddles when I'm feeling sick or sad.  FI tries to cheer me up sometimes by having him do "gymnastics" but that just makes me worry that one of the limbs will fall off.
  • I had a handful of stuffed animals as a kid, but nothing special or that went with me anywhere. I rotated them daily, so there was not favoritism (yes, I was as weird then as I am now!). When I left my first H, an older male friend gave me a stuffed horse. I named him Cookie and slept with him until FI asked me to give it up! LOL My sons and I were away for a training seminar for one of my jobs once, and Cookie was taken by the maid in the laundry - I almost panic'd but they found him as we were loading to leave. When I had to travel last year to the Philippines on business, housekeeping put Cookie in a different spot every day! I have him tucked away in a box under my bed :)

  • I have a little stuffed koala bear named Buttonnose.  He came with me on every trip I took until I was in my early 20's.  He currently resides in my old bedroom at my parents house, but this reminded me to go pick him up.  :)

  • The summer of 1996 (I was 7) I traveled a lot with my dad to see his family who lived out of state.  It felt like 6 weeks, I missed my mom so much (she stayed home to take care of my Papa).  Looking back it was probably 10 days tops that I was gone, haha.  When I got back, my mom had gotten me a teddy bear.  She said he was the only one of his kind on the shelf and he looked so lonely and she was lonely because we were out of town.  I love that bear so much.  I didn't take him in public, but I slept with him every night and everytime I was upset, he just made me feel better.

He lives in my closet.  If I'm ever sleeping without my FI (like if I take a nap) I still sleep with him.  FI thinks it's cute (he is clearly encouraging my immaturity, haha).  He will tuck me in and get him from the closet for me.  I also have a stuffed bunny that FI gave me for our first Easter (I was 19, haha) that I sleep with for naps.  FI calls them my "buddies".  He will tuck me in and say "do you want your radio on?  the lights off? do you want your buddies?" :p

Yup, purple and white blanket that my grandma made for me. My mom had it re-stuffed and sealed up when i stopped using it and is saving it for my, hopefully, future daughter.

  • My made me a blanket out of fabric from my older sister's clothes... so the fabric is like 37 years old.  I took it everywhere... as it was long enough to cover me still. In college I noticed it was falling apart.  So as a college graduation gift, my mom made me a new blanket so I could retire the old one.  Both are on a childhood chair in our bedroom with my duckie (another toy I took everywhere) and Bob the bear.  Bob is made out of my "second dad" (family friend) clothes.  his wife had it made for me when he passed away 6 years ago...

  • Mine was a stuffed pink bunny with a rattle inside that smelled like baby powder. I named her Bun Bun. I remember picking her out at the last company picnic we went to as a family before my parents got divorced. She was in good shape until about 4 or 5 years ago when my psycho ex ripped her ears off, nearly took her head off, and ripped a leg. She's been repaired twice since then. Once by me (terrible job), and once by my grandparents.

I took her everywhere. I was a sick child and used to put her in this little baby doll onesie and take her into surgery with me.

I still sleep with her almost every night.  (I know, I'm pathetic.) Once FI and I get married, she will probably have a place of honor on the guest bed.

  • Yes. My bear, Nickie. She's been with me through EVERYTHING, and currently hangs out on the bed in our extra bedroom. Last night, I came home from book club and found my FI sound asleep holding her - turns out he wasn't feeling well. It was adorable. (Good news, he's better today, too.)
  • Yes! I had a blankie that I slept with every night and it came on every vacation and every sleepover.  When I was about 10, we went to Disney for a summer vacation and my younger sister started feeling sick.  I gave her my blankie to try and make her feel a little better and she threw up on it :( I was devestated we had to throw it away! Still miss that blankie haha

I used my baby comforter baby Mickey, Minnie Pluto as my security blanket. I don't think that I really carried it around with me, but I remember using it outside for a doll baby and leaving it out there. When I went back for it, it was gone and I was devastated. I turns out that someone thought it would be fun to toss it in the pool. I also lost it in our move from Florida to Ohio. I was so upset! I will snuggle with it when I'm not feeling well. It currently resides in my bedroom so that I can bring it out for my niece to use when she stays the night.

I had a blanket that was a piece of a larger blanket, I had a piece and my sister had a piece, I believe my sister sewed them back together years ago and may still have it. I also had a Thumper doll (the rabbit from Bambi) who was THE stuffed animal for years. He's at my parents house with some other stuff me and my siblings had when  we were kids.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • I have (still!) a pink crocheted blanket.  Its fairly small (too small to cover my body) but I sleep with it tucked up in my arm.  It is in surprisingly good shape considering I've had it my entire life and I'm almost 27.  FI isn't bothered by it at all and in fact, when he moved in he insisted on bringing his "item".  He has two baby burp clothes that he sleeps with.  He holds them in his hands while he is falling asleep.  He calls them his "puppies" and I cannot tell him its silly because that would make me a hypocrite so I just go with it!
  • I had a blanket my mom made for my brother when he was born (3 years older than me) that has peanuts characters on it. I called it Blanky-Blank. I also had Doggy-Dog (notice my naming pattern?! lol) that we found in the Dr. office one time. When he wasn't claimed after a week or two, we got to keep him. He was small and missing an eye, but my mom sewed a new one on him. Mom has them both stored somewhere safe at her house.
