I live in Woodbridge & don't want to travel too far for a gown. I don't want to spend a fortune on a wedding gown. Any suggestions of places to go to? Is online an option (I am skeptical)? Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you :0)
I second Russell's!! They have been great - got my dress, my 4 bridesmaids, and my 4 flower girl dresses there. Alterations AND bustle are included for me and they even threw in free alterations for my flower girls! They have been wonderful!

<div>I don't know those stores very well myself, but I'd assume that budget would be hard to stay under there. Have you tried David's bridal? </div>
I'm not sure on the selection at Russels under your price point. I went for the first time on Saturday and they were great! They actually never asked my price point lol just started grabbing gowns and seeing what worked on me/ what Iiked etc. I can tell you that I tried on about 8 gowns and the price range of those particular ones fell roughly between $1,200- $1,500 or so. They do include your alterations in the price though. I'd give them a quick call and let them know your budget and see what they have. They are extremely nice ) They also have a ton of discontinued racks where they have dresses for sale...those dresses are marked down and you just have to sift through them to find your size, or close to it (remember they can be altered to fit you if they are close to your size) The only catch is that the dress is no longer made, they can't order you another one like it, that's it and I do believe they are samples. Worth a peak!
I also recommend Russel's and Hollywood Bridal, although I'm not sure how many dresses you will find there for under $500. I was trying to keep my budget at $800 and it was a little difficult. Russel's did have a very large selection of sample gowns for sale, for very cheap, but you'd have to be lucky enough to find something you loved and not be too small or too huge. I did also look in David's Bridal - out of the few I liked, they were all around $600 to $700.. they do have less expensive gowns though, but again, not sure how much of a selection, etc. They are always having $99 sales, but I don't know how much of a selection that includes. I would suggest looking for sample sales, or, possibly finding a gown you love in person, and then check for it on Ebay. Ebay does protect you, just in case something was wrong with the gown, or it didn't look like the picture, etc. I'd be skeptical about purchasing a gown online, unless you are very sure of the return policy and how long it will take to receive it(and I would make sure you saw it in person somewhere first). I'm guessing that for under $500, you won't find gowns with much beading or detail.. could be wrong about that. If you are looking for a lot of beading, lace or detail, I'm not sure how much would be available at that price point.

Group USA in Jersey Garden's Mall will be a great place for you to check out and defintiely in your budget.
I went to Macy's bridal salon in Menlo Park Mall. I loved it there! Chelsea is the best! However their dresses range from 800 to 2500 but they offer a 15% discount for new customers.
I agree with everyone else for under 500 Davids Bridal would be your best bet.

I was going to suggest this as well. I got my prom dress there like 10 years ago and it was a bridesmaid dress. Their stuff was very nice!
You could try Cinderella bridal in Old Bridge (right off of route 9). They had great dresses in a wide range of prices. Ask for Hettie... she was on the ball! DB also has great gowns too. Good luck!
I second David's Bridal, but I recommend the one in Springfield, not E. Brunswick. I went there about a month ago only to try on dresses. This was my 2nd time trying one (first was at Macy's in Menlo). I tried on 5 dresses and at the end of the night, I found my dream dress. I definitely wasn't expecting to find my dress that night, but when you know...you just know. I paid under $500 for my dress. They had a sale going one where it was $100 off, and I believe they have a similar sale running now. I wish you the best of luck and if you go to DB in Springfield, ask for Maria...she was the best!

Also.. does anybody know if Group Usa has inexpensive mother of the bride gowns that aren't made for a young mom? My mom is 65, and doesn't want to wear a "gown". She's looking for a dress with a beaded longsleeve jacket (not cropped/bolero)...
