Tipping

What's an appropriate tip for the Maitre d'? The wedding is at a country club in lower Westchester and there will be around 165 guests.

At our venue they told us $3/pp. I don't like that idea though, my wedding planner will make sure everythings goes as I want it and accordingly to schedule, my DJ does the introduction. Maitre d Is supposed to make sure the dinner goes smoothly, but it comes to $600 in my case. Oh well...

It usually states in the contract a range of the percentage of the total amount (around 3-5%). Check your contract.

I'm also getting married in lower Westchester... the reception hall suggests in my contract $3-$5 per person for gratuity.

However, I believe that's what we'd give the Maitre d' and I was under the impression it's for him and also to distribute to his staff?  Not quite sure how it works.

I also heard that people tip the bridal attendant seperately.  Again-- just things I've heard!
