Groomsmen Attire

I'm having an outdoor wedding near the end of June in Kentucky. It could be really hot/humid. I've always pictured the white dress/guy in tuxes...BUT I don't want the guys to be dying of heat. Any suggestions on outfits for the guys? My dress is long, white, and halter and the bridesmaid dresses are dark purple/summery style.

Re: Groomsmen Attire

  • How does your FI feel about this?

  • He told me to decide what they should wear but agrees that they will probably be way too hot in suits or tuxes. I would be okay with kakhi pants and a top if it was a beach wedding...but it's not. Maybe that would still be okay though?
  • If the ceremony isn't too long, I think having a sports jacket over the white shirts and khakis would look nice.

  • I love the look of trousers, button down and tie/blazer.  They can always ditch their jackets after the ceremony.
  • What about higher end linen pants and a short sleeved dress shirt?   Or even a long sleeved one.   Tuxes in that weather would be evil.  Plus, I just think it would look off.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • My men are going to be in full dress uniforms in July (his choice and VERY hot!), but I'm buying them tropical weight slacks and white cotton shirts to change into afterwards (their uniform pants are white). That way we have a short ceremony, pictures, and then everyone will be out of the hot clothes and into something more comfortable for the reception.

Would that be helpful so that you can have the traditional look you're going for without burdening the groom/smen too much?
  • Or nice suit pants with a white shirt & tie?  So like a suit without the jacket and not as stifling.
  • I love everyone's suggestions! I'm gonna show him this thread and maybe he'll actually have an opinion about it since he can see options. Thanks!
