Ideas for when we exit the church

Other than bubbles. I would like to do something different and heard that bubble can stain the dress....

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • Sparklers...Even children could hold sparklers. Ive seen tons of pictures of people doing it and you can even find heart shaped sparklers just for te occasion!
  • Confetti! Red and green sparkly confetti!

"There's only one rule that you have to follow so I will come back and be here tomorrow: Please do not touch me. My magic might go, and Santa won't hear all I've seen or I know."
  • If you do decide to do sparklers or confetti you will want to check with your ceremony venue on if those are allowed. I know neither of those options are allowed at my church, so we will be sticking with bubbles (I love how pictures turn out with those). If you want you don't have to do anything for the exit besides your guests standing outside cheering as you exit.
  • We're not necessarily having a big exit/ send-off, but as we walk up the aisles of the church and leave, our guests will be ringing little bells. I read that it was an Irish tradition and thought it was really sweet.

Giving children flaming sticks is probably a bad idea for your wedding.

  • You can have butterflies released.
  • I'm thinking of doing paper airplanes (I saw it on some article from the knot)

  • I recently went to a wedding where they gave all the guests little bells to ring as they exited the church. It was cute and different and there was no mess :)
  • Do NOT release butterflies unless you've done research on their migration patterns and are sure that the type of butterfly you're releasing is supposed to be in the area your wedding is taking place.  If it's a foreign environment for the butterfly you're essentially giving them a death sentence.  As for the question at hand, find out what's allowed at your venue, and then go from there.  It also depends on if you'd like something visually appealing or not, since bells are a cute idea but wouldn't be as striking in a photo as sparklers, fabric wands, bubbles, etc.
  • we're having a fall wedding so we're throwing up leaves.  Haven't figured out how to pick them up yet....but we'll see!! :)
  • Thanks everyone!!!!
  • i cant do rose petals, confetti, birdseed, sparklers or anything at my venue, so we decided to do white glowsticks! we think they will look great in pictures
  • my friend did noise makers (clappers, kazoos, etc) and it was really cute and fun...
