Rockleigh Country Club (food and room opinions wanted)

Hello!  So we are seriously considering booking a Friday night wedding at the Rockleigh and wanted to ask for some opinions out there:
1. We've had a couple people tell us the food lately is not all that great...Food is VERY important for us so wanted to hear if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with the food.
2.  We are having 185 ppl or so and for the date we want, only the bigger room is available.  Does anyone know if the room would be too big? Would hate for it to feel too spacious and not intimate at all.  I'm going back there this weekend to check it out since the first time around we only saw the smaller of 2 rooms.

    I think the Rockleigh is so beautiful.  I didn't choose it  ( I went with Seasons - look at the first floor ballroom pictures) because I didn't think you get so much for the $$$.  They hosted (food) some wedding event at a Bloomingdales last year and it wasn't that great.  Not sure if this was because they only prepared their easy cocktail dishes.... but it wasn't a good reflection of what I think they are capable of.

    the food there is great!  im really into food and i've been to 2 wedddings there and i thought the food was outstanding!

    not sure which is the big room... but the room we were in both times had had around 175 ish and it was perfect.

    I've been to the Rockleigh for several weddings and I think the food is very good there.  Plus the grounds and ballrooms are gorgeous so it's an all around impressive venue. 

    I do agree with the pp in that you could probably get more for your money elsewhere.  However, it depends upon your priorities and what's most important.  I planned my wedding (@Florentine Gardens) the same time my SIL planned hers (@Seasons) - she did get more food at a lesser price/person.  However, picking the venue that I fell in love with was most important.  I loved the atmosphere & ballroom at Florentine Gardens and definitely wanted my wedding there.  I knew the food was good and I still was getting a decent amount just not as much as my SIL and I was okay with that.

    We got married at The Rockleigh in July and were very happy with the food.  Our guests throught the quality of the food was great and there was an abundance of it (we almost thought too much).  My husband is a chef in NYC, so food is very important to us.  At the same time, we understand that wedding food/catering for 210 people can only be so good.  I think The Rockleigh offers some of the best catering around (and I've been to various Abigail Kirsch weddings). 

    If you do book, I can tell you what we had on our menu and which dishes people are still talking about a couple of months later.

    Re: the rooms.  We had 210 people in the Bristol Room (which is the smaller room).  We had ample space inbetween tables and there was so much room to dance on the dance floor.  I think you could have 175 in the larger room, but there will be a lot of extra space.  Would you want to create a lounge area?

    has anyone recently been married at Rockleigh? i am trying to have my wedding this NYE (only 6 months to plan) and Rockleigh has the Bristol room available.  My sister got married at the West Mount and the food was amazing and I am concerned Rockleigh will not be as good.  Food is very important to me.  Unfortunately West Mount is all booked.
