Addressing your invites

So the invites are here and now I have to address them.  I am really not trying to pay a calligrapher to address these.  It will come to more than what I paid for the invites themselves.  Since I have time off I might just write them out myself.  As long as they are hand written it is okay right?  If the stupid envelope didn't get stuck in the printer I would be doing it that way. UGH! 

What are you going to do for your invites?  For those who already have what did you do?

    Since I just found out last week that labels are a no no  for the invites I will be trying to send them through my printer at home and pray they don't get stuck. I have terrible hand writing and I do not have time to learn calligraphy so Idk what i would do.

    I cheated the Etiquette rules or what I call used the ones that I agreed with.  And you have to know your guests, mine were not going to care about how the invitation was addressed. My handwriting is okay, H's is awful, wasn't paying anyone to do them and didn't even think about seing if the envelopes would go through the printer.

    Invitations - Clear labels - Cursive Font. 
    TY Cards - Hand written

    Do either on you ladies have a friend or family member with really good handwriting? My mom wil be addressing mine. Or you can have that person over and feed them or something in return.

    I would definitely say screw etiquette and use clear labels with cursive font. This is definitely what I'm doing.

    Ive been considering the clear labels myself. Or either letting my mom address them b/c her handwriting is amazing!

    Since I'll have about 150 of them I think I am going the clear label route with a cursive font.  I know my people.  They ain't paying one mind about the envelope, lol.  I have  nice handwriting, but my hands can't take all that!

    I think you should go with the Clear Labels.  I have very nice handwriting and I still did the clear labels.  It was soooo much easier than handwriting. You will save so much money.  I also ordered return address labels from Vista Print.

    I plan on doing the addresses myself.   I dabbled a bit in calligraphy when I was younger.  Some of it still remains with me.  :)

    I think I might try the cheat calligraphy method and if it isn't working I'm going with the clear labels. 235 invites...2-3-5...LAWD what was I thinking

    Me too! I used white labels with Bradley Script. My family and friends didn't care and if they did oh well.  I could care less if people are talking about me because I printed my labels. Oh well!

    Hey Cat! I saw your post about this on FB. I have decent handwriting. I'm actually handwriting them myself and I will be hand delivering the local ones (i.e. church members and neighbors) but I will just write their names on them. I actually brought mine to work so I can work on some tonight. I have to get them finished before this week is over. I bought the Recollection Signature gel pens in Ebony from Michael's to write them. I also have Pigma Graphic #1 Archival ink pens from Michael's as well. They're a little thicker like a Calligraphy pen. (both are in the calligraphy section). Also, a tip for writing addreses- I took an index card and used the thicker pen to line the lines to make them darker and inserted the index card in the envelope and then VOILA!!--a straight edge guide to keeping your lines straight when writing the addresses :)

    Since my envelopes looked so plain I also bought one of the $1 stamps and stamped all my envelopes in the bottom corner.

    Our stationer printed the recipient's address and the return address on the envelopes along with the address on the RSVP envelope (see pics below).

    If you're not comfortable with your handwriting, you can try to send them through a printer to get the addresses printed directly on to them. I can imagine it would be time consuming, but probably worth it in the end.  If all else fails, you can go with the clear labels.

    I went with the clear labels and the same font that I used on the Invitations. Once you put them on it looks like they were printed on the invitation, and it saved me soooo much time.
    I did however, write the names of the guests on the response cards (That was my way of getting around the pure chicken scratch that the majority of my guests have so that I can read who RSVP'd clearly).

    I have a couple more invites to print & stuff, and I'm missing a couple addresses. Those are the ones that will get hand written if I dont get them in enough time.

    I hand wrote the envelopes for my invitations, the thank you cards and the wedding announcements. I thought about doing a nice label for the announcements, but I never went back to buy them from the store.  I just sat down and started writing and finished like 2/3 of them within an hour.

    I think I'll try to send mine through the printer and if that fails, go the clear label route. I'd like a more formal feel, which says handwritten, but I hardly think my handwriting=formal.
