Sephora

So I have a $50 gift card to sephora, that I'm hoping to spend on Monday.  Any suggestions of what to buy?  There is really nothing I need, but what should I get?  I was thinking of getting some eyeshadow primer, any suggestions on brands?

Thanks for any suggestions or tips!

Re: Sephora

  • Eyeshadow Primer - Urban Decay Primer Potion

I usually go in store and look for fun stuff.  Maybe a new nail polish set or some fun lip stuff?

  • I heard good things about the Urban Decay Primer, thank you Pee K.

  • Whenever I get a gift card for Sephora or Ulta I usually buy something I've never tried before but my go to brand is either MAC, Bare Minerals or Too Faced.

I also like Sephora's house brand, it's not overly expensive so if you buy something you don't like you don't feel like "oh crap I spent $30 on primer and I'm screwed".  I get a lot of my eyeshadows for going out from their house brand.

I'm jealous!  I love Sephora (and Ulta)

  • I like the idea of browsing around for some eye shadows too! Thanks!

  • I really like these brands:

    Urban Decay
    Nars
    Lorac
    Benefit
    Tarte
    Too Faced
    Dior

I usually look for a set or palette so that I can try multiple items.  Then if there is something I really like I can go back and buy the full size if I need more.

  • When I go to Sephora I usually get a couple new makeup brushes. I really like their selection. I also go to the Bare Minerals section.

I haven't really liked the Sephora brand makeup, but I do really like their skin care line!  It is nice that it is not as expensive.  Don't forget Sephora has an amazing return policy!

  • So my plan was to only use the $50 gift card but I may be spending more.  I like the idea of new make up brushes too!  I have two sets of make up actually one for every day use my clinique stuff and another set for theater make up.  So if I ever get make up I'm not too fond or or some colors that aren't the best it goes into my theater make up bag.

I would totally buy new make up brushes. Other than that, I looove too-faced eyeshadow. Also, maybe a rollerball perfume? They're pretty inexpensive. My current favorite perfume is Kate Walsh's 'Boyfriend' (the original one, not the 'Billionaire' one, which smells gross, imo.).

  • I second the Urban Decay Primer. I also like anything by Make Up For Ever - especially their HD microfinishing powder. It just gives your makeup that 'set' look if that makes sense.

I can't go out of there and not spend less than $100 bucks and TBH I don't really wear makeup at work, just when I go out but I think the least amount I've spent at Sephora was like $150

I think I might to to Ulta this weekend and get some new foundation.  My goal today is to at least book a color at my salon, I have some grey hair and the roots are baaad.

I THIRD the Urban Decay primer potion.  Easy to apply, lasts a long time.  There are several varieties but I like the gold tube the most--great as a primer and also a pretty shimmer that can be used on its own, too.
  • Yeah, I spend way too much there. I remember being so happy when I got to 500 Beauty Insider points, for the second time, until I realized that that meant I had spent over $1000 there in less than two years.

I just got one for Christmas. I bought the Wen hair care package (comes with shampoo/conditioner, treatment, and spray) and I just got it in the mail today. It's supposed to be miraculous so we shall see!
