September 2012 Weddings

Show Me Your...

Venue! Whatever pictures you may have of it, whether they are other weddings they have shown there or what... this includes both your Ceremony and Reception venues if they are in different locations :)

FI and I are having a DW up in the Muskoka Lakes region of Ontario at a resort called Taboo Resort on Lake Muskoka, its GORGEOUS and so worth the travel!!!!

These are some overall pictures of the resort.
We are having the Ceremony on what is called the Fireside Patio. The first picture is of a wedding held there, the rest are pictures I took of the location, and the view from it, when we went on a planning trip last summer.

Our reception area is called The Pavillion. Its is a giant permanent tent that has a floor, heating/AC, its own kitchen, bathroom, chandaliers and the whole bit.

Lastly I have some pictures of the accomodations. They have two styles of rooms, half the resort is an more cabin/woodsy type feel, and the other half are done up more modern in blacks and greys. We will be requesting the first type, I like them better!

  • This is Stone Harbor, the town we're having our wedding in :)

The sand dunes leading to the beach where we'll have our ceremony

    The beach

Our reception venue.  You can kind of see that it is right beside the sand dunes

View of the reception venue from the beach.  That lot is where we'll have the cocktail hour.  You have to be creative to visualize it hahaha.

One of the views of our ballroom.  It has new wood floors, tall ceilings, and a tacky stage that we're putting our DJ on.
  • We are having the ceremony in the church I grew up in, which is making me feel very sentimental, haha. Here's the outside:

The reception will be at a country club in my home town. This is the view from the golf course:

    The ballroom:

And the terrace where we're having cocktails. I really wanted to be able to do something outdoors, but I didn't want to have to worry about weather (I'm a BIG worrier...) so I'm happy that we have this terrace to use!

  • This is the Polish Center of WI. You wouldn't know its a "polish" building besides one flag outside. We have the whole building rented for the day. (Both ceremony and reception are here)

ceremony will be in the hall right inside the doors. Outside the window is a small garden and a lake just past that. We will have almost this same set up except we are having red chair sashes and red rose petals.

This is the reception spot to the left of the ceremony space.
There is a balcony with room for tables and that upstairs too for a little more privacy for those who want to get away from the music.
This pic is from the head table looking back.

Our head table will be set up in front of the curtain and the tables pushed back more like the last pic. This is looking down from the balcony.

    This is the pendleton ballroom:
Here is another angle- I love the fireplace! We're going to have the windows open for the reception because I like the look of them.

This is the church we will be getting married in.....and the inside with some pics of actual weddings..ours will look more like the second as it is a day wedding and we will have some sunlight.

And the reception will be held at the Petroleum Club....which is up on the 43rd floor of the Exxon Mobil building in downtown.....FI is an architect so we could not resist the view!

  • It's a restored 1907 hotel; everything will be outside on the spacious lawns & patios.
    Here's the front:

Here's the lobby, just for an idea of how it's been restored, I really love it!

Here are the lawns on one side (the lawns extend on 3 sides of the building):

And here's the area by the sunken, slate-lined patio where the dancing will be:

    Can't wait! :D

  • SheaCC Thanks the windows were pretty much what made us fall in love with the venue!! I am super jealous of your terrace.....anything outdoors in September in Houston is pretty much out of the question as it will still likely be over 90 degrees out!

My fiance and I are getting married at the Deadwood Gulch Gaming Resort in Deadwood, SD.

    Here's a link to the website. http://www.deadwoodgulchresort.com/
For those of you that have firewall blockers, yes it is a casino.

Here's a front view of the casino

    Back view

Weather permitting, we'll have the ceremony on the patio area.

Whitewood Creek runs behind the building.  The bridal suite has a really pretty view of the creek.

The reception will be held in the convention center next door.

  •  Britt - I've actually been there!! Family friends of ours live in Muskoka and their son used to work at that place!

    Our venue:

    This is National Art Gallery:

My FI proposed under the big spider outside the gallery lol

This is the water court foyer; there is a pool of water above which lets light shine through and it reflects on the tiles below. Our setting will be tables like this but with clear chiavari chairs and white linens.

This is the space above the foyer; the pool of water above the room.

It has so many great spots for photos; amazing structure!
We also have another space rented but I can't seem to find any good pics of it; it's more or less just the cocktail/mingling area. There is also a terrace for guests to get some fresh air.

  • We're getting married in the church that I grew up in.

And the reception will be at a country club near FI's hometown.

We fell in love with the room because the cocktail hour has access to all the balconies overlooking the golf course.  That combined with the view off the balconies makes it feel less like a golf course and more like I'm standing on the front porch of my grandfather's farm house in Northern Maine.  The view over the Blackstone Valley is amazing.  My mother and FMIL both loved it on sight which is shocking :)

  • Awesome venues Ladies!
These are some photos my parents took back in November.  We're getting married at my hometown fairgrounds in an area called "Frontier Town".  I grew up showing animals at this fair and it holds a lot of memories for me.  I have a vision and It's probably tough to imagine, but I see it!

From the north looking down in to the reception area.  The tarp will be removed.  The Oak tree will be the center point.

The area has picnic tables that come with the rental.  I can't justify paying for table and chair rental when the picnic tables are free.  Center of the photo shows a firepit.  Very right is the bar.

And a side view of the bar

Looking from the ceremony area (we don't have a pic, it's just a big lawn)  Again, the tarp will be removed.  Think paper lanterns, chandeliers, mason jars hanging.

    Another far view

This is in the center of the fairgrounds. Behind the cowboy is a waterfall. We will have it flowing and will take some photos here.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • this is where the ceremony will be held.

    Reception

    rooms/suites

  • Kind of long but here goes!

This is the front of the Convention Center

This is in the back where the outside ceremony will take place, chairs will be on the lawn, flowers & a decorated arch are on the stone area where bridal party will be

This is the area as the guests go inside it's where the cocktail hour will be, all of the trees will have fairy lights in them! It is a multi leveled area

After the cocktail hour guests will continue on to the actual reception area. It has two fountains that will have purple lights in them and here is a "stock" photo of the table set up

Last but not least here is where the ceremony will be if it rains
