Groupon Travels?

My fiance have seen some amazing deals on there, and we were thinking of buying our honeymoon trip through Groupon. Before I go that route I had hoped to find some people that had bought through them or alternatively Living Social Escapes and hear whether the experience was good. Though I am primarily interested in Groupon since their prices seem to be the best. So anyone?

  • Just make sure and check, and then double check the blackout and expiration dates. Also make sure you know what is included and what is not.

That being said, I've never purchased one, those are just things to look out for.
  • I purchased a groupon for a 2-night stay in New Hampshire and had no problems, althought I'm sure that's a much smaller trip than you're planning.  I called the inn before buying the groupon to verify there was availability for the days I was interested in, then bought the groupon, and called back immediately to make a reservation.  I would check availability prior to buying the groupon or living social.  Also, I believe you have 2 or 3 days after buying the deal to request a refund without a fee, so book your trip within this window in case you need to request a refund due to no availability.

Thanks, thats a really good idea. I had bought lots of the groupons for items and dinners, but just never from their travel section. I have only ever had one problem out of about 50 purchases, and I have to say when it came to that, they went above and beyond to make it right. I just don't want to take too many chances with my honeymoon.

  • We just took a trip to Ireland that we booked with Sceptre Tours vis a Travelzoo deal.  Prior to booking, we looked up all of the hotels on trip advisor to check their reviews.  Then I called Sceptre Tours to verfiy there were no additional charges.

The trip was wonderful and a great price (for flight, rental car and 7 nights of hotel we paid less than the face value of the flight alone).

We will definitely consider booking trips via flash sites in the future.  Like pp said, just read all of the fine print/black-out dates
  • I saw a Groupon for the same resort I went to on my honeymoon, and mentioned it to a few other people. One of them pointed out that CheapCaribbean.com had a better deal than the groupon (which doesn't include flights). You might want to check that it's actually the best deal first.

Oh, definitely. We have already shopped around some. And the prices I am seeing for the places we are most interested in can't be beat. We are only interested in buying the Groupons that include airfare.

BTW, love your wedding pic. Where did you have your wedding?

Everyone else thank you for the input and wonderful suggestions.
