I'm a big fan of Windsor for day or weekend get aways. The rooms at the casino are cheap and there are awesome restaurants on Erie street (go to Spagos or Nico then get tiramisu and cappuccino at Dolce). Or you could book a B&B in Port Huron or Algonac (tho that might be a better idea for the summer). Its 4 hours away, but Traverse City is a great weekend trip (stay at the Hampton for $90/night and get dinner at the restaurant at the top of the grand traverse resort). Most of TC stays open year round, but places on the Mission peninsula might be closed.
Google B&B's in Michigan. There are several in the SE part of the state. I always like going there because they usually have delicious breakfasts, and some of them have fireplaces and hot tubs!
The Atheneum has great hotel rooms, with sunken tubs, really modern, with flat screen tv's. You can have breakfast at Fishbones. MGM Grand & Motor City have spas.........
If you don't want to go downtown, the Townsend in Birmingham is lovely, great restaurants & shops to walk around downtown.
We're in dire need for one of these. Bobby wants to go to Houghton Lake. It's beautiful, but I think it might be better for the summer. I'm about to pull up a map of Michigan, close my eyes, point to something, and go there.

It's a little farther away that 2 hours (more like 3) but there is an amazing B&B in Oscoda called Huron House.... it's surprisingly reasonably priced and all rooms have either an indoor or outdoor hottub and it's right on Lake Huron.
This place is 4.5 hours and i'm dying to go there myself. I have the link saved because i can't wait for the oppurtunity! it looks so beautiful and peaceful!!
Albion! It's just a few miles off of I-94 between Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo and is a great small town. There is a B&B there (The Palmer House) that has amazing prices and the owner is really nice! The owner can hook you up with in room massages, dinner nearby, movie tickets, really anything pending on what you want to do. The owner (Scott) also makes really good breakfast with lots of choices and more food than you would expect to get anywhere. Rooms are all under $100 a night and Scott usually gives drastic discounts to first time stayers or repeat stayers.
It was such a cute room! The bedroom area had a door way shaped like a heart. THe room was nice and clean. The inn keeper was very friendly, but knew when to leave you alone. THe breakfast this morning was supper yummy and they price was awsome. $139! We will deffinatly be back.
