Has anyone gone to a wedding or had a wedding at the groton motor inn and suites?

Just wondering if it was a good or bad location

I've been to a bar mitzvah there. It's pretty much your standard ballroom. The hotel itself is VERY close to the highway so it's convenient. If you are looking for a ballroom I would suggest The Crocker House in New London. It's more elegant IMO.

Plus "The Crocker House" sounds better on an invite than "Motor Inn".  Even if they look identical, the first just sounds nicer, which actually does influence how people perceive the place even after they arrive.

Don't do it! Owner VERY difficult to work with. A better option around the same cost, Port and Starboard in New London.

I just went to a Wedding there myself on Saturday, I thought the food was amazing, and the help was extremely courtious!  The place itself is a little dated, but overall a good experience.  Have you booked a photographer or a DJ yet?? I know someone who is AWESOME and they are SUPER reasonable!!!!  Let me know if you want her info

Were looking for something standard and we are paying for it ourselves so it has  to be reasonably priced. Haven't booked a dj yet or a photographer but we want to add a photobooth, so if you know one it would be very helpful. We almost booked with this place in westerly and the guy changed the price 3 times and each time couldn't even remember our names, im not trying to get in that situation again:)

The girl is Photography By Krista.  She is awesome, and so easy to work with, not to mention SUPER talented.  She offers package deals with a local DJ too.  Shoot her an e-mail if you would like :)

& Trust me I totally understand about having to pay for everything yourself.  I would reccomend putting on the invites "Groton Inn & Suites" It sounds a little better.  But seriously the food was great, the help was super nice, only downfall is the place is a litle dated.  I think they give discounts if you have it on a friday or sunday, and you get a room for the bride and groom for free as well :) Good luck hun!

I'm getting married at the Branford House and it can end up getting costly since you need to bring everything in (food, decorations, etc). I would try the Crocker House in New London. I remember that being affordable. Also, the Westbrook Elks Clubs in Westbrook. It's right on the water and I thought nicer than Groton Motor Inn. Good luck!

I went to a wedding there, and planned a wedding at Groton Inn and Suites (I think that's what they call themselves. And it sounds better too). I thought they were very flexible and the food was good. BUT! THe food was not "classy." It was very good, and I think that's what really matters. The only other comment I would make is that it smelled a bit mildew-y last time I was there, though we had had a ton of rain in the days prior to my visit. You can't beat it for the price. I am doing the Mystic Hilton, but they were my second choice.
