Where to put registry infomation, when some won't access the internet

I have learned that it is against the "rules" to put your registry information in the invites. I have seen that people suggest to put everything on there wedding website. However My question is, where or how do you inform guests of your registry if they do not access the internet and don't know anything about computers.??

  • If they want to know where you are registered, they will ask your family members--or you.

  • Plus, in 1 year and 10 months, they might jump on the computer-using bandwagon!!

  • Are those inserts that stores give you tacky to put in shower invites?

  • Plenty of older guests at our wedding managed to find out where we registered via word of mouth. If they want to buy you a gift, they won't have a problem finding your registry.

  • Registries aren't a new thing.  Most people will ask.

Or give cash.  So perhaps you want to not tell people where you're registered?

  • I don't mind an insert in a shower invite.

That's up to the host, for my shower the host printed the information on the invitation instead of including the store provided insert.

When I hosted my sister's shower I still relied on word of mouth.

  • Good to know about the inserts. I wish I would get cash.  It is going to be impossible to find storage once I start getting more wedding gifts.

  • thanks.
I don't think "word of mouth" will go too well on my side, but definitely will work on his side.  I guess, if they want to know, they'll ask, or just give cash, or nothing. Whichever, I'll be happy with.

  • I suggest you register for at least a few items at the store that is the go-to store for registries in your region. For many parts of this country, that's Macy's. Or maybe it's Dillard's by you. It's probably a department store that your grandparents think of when they think of a wedding registry. If you do that, then chances are they will just go to the store and look you up.
  • thanks we don't have either of those that you mentioned, But I believe ours would be Boscovs..

  • Gift registries existed before the internet. Your guests who are not computer savvy will have to do it the old fashioned way.. word of mouth.

  • why wouldnt word of mouth work well on your side? i think people will ask.

  • word of mouth works for us.  We didn't even have a website.

My sister and brothers all got married 13+years ago, before website.  They did word of mouth also.   If people want to know they normally ask the bride or someone in the know like your BM, moms, sisters, etc.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • My sister printed where I was registered on the shower invite. For the people that didn't get a shower invite, and don't use a computer, they know BBB or Macys around here are the two typical places, so I'm sure they would go to one of those and look us up.
  • The shower inserts might look kinda tacky. Your host can always have a separate card printed up, like a reception card, and include it with the invitations.

Ditto that registries have been around longer than the internet. If these are older relatives you're talking about, I will be this is not the first wedding or first wedding registry they have ever come across.
