Kindle?

I've been thinking about buying a Kindle and was curious if people liked theirs. pros/cons?

One specific thing i was curious about was the 3G vs. non 3G models. What's the purpose of the 3G? Can you access the internet the same way you could a smart phone? ( FB, TK, Google, blogs, etc?) or is the purpose of the 3G just to allow you to download books basically anytime/anywhere (as long as you're within AT&T's network)?

i have wireless at home, and it's available in enough places that I can't see needing the 3G just for download purposes.

i don't travel as much as i used to, but it would be nice not having to lug one or more books around. I'd routinely take 4-5 books with me on business trips. I think the kindle would fit in most of my everyday purses, so I could take it basically everywhere.

also is a lighted cover (or booklight) really necessary for reading in dark places?

I love it. I have just the wifi version. I have yet to be anywhere where I NEED THIS BOOK NOW!

Yes a book light is needed as it's not backlit. No big deal. I got a cheapy book light and it works like a charm.

    I have no cons.

I have the 3G and don't really need it.  You cannot access the internet.  I have used it going down the highway though.

You will need a light anyplace you would need a light to read the paper.  I love my kindle so very much.

I have a Sony Reader Pocket edition vs Kindle.

Pros - very compact and much smaller than a Kindle.  Fits easily in my purse.  No need for a book light. (I read on the bus on my morning commute before the sun is fully up)  Holds as many as 1000 books. (but who would need that many at one time).  I can download books from the Sony store and "borrow" from our local library.

Cons - no direct download.  I must download to my computer and sync (w/cord) to reader.  Cannot buy books from Amazon or B&N.

I love, love, love my kindle.  I have one with Wifi only and I don't mind at all not having 3G.  I've not needed a book rightnowrightnowrightnow!

It's been getting a lot of use during pumping.

I do need to get a light for it.  I keep forgetting.

I have the Nook Color and I love it.  It's backlit, so no book light.  It is awesome for surfing the net too.  Best Buy carries Nooks and Kindes now so you can test them out begore purchasing.
