Re: This just makes me sick.

  • Coming from someone who has worked in the medical field, a HIPAA violation occurs when names are disclosed and specific details, and no where in this post did anyone mention names or specific details. HOWEVER, the articles listed names of all involved and described what they reported as fact. So are you telling me that the news violated HIPAA? No - it's called news and it happens everyday, good or bad.

I find it interesting that everyone has an opinion, but whether you like it or not, you don't have to be so vicious to each other. Find another website to post on if you are going to be so nasty and insulting. My god, this is a wedding wesbite, and although this is a Chit Chat board, I didn't see where being rude and vicious was part of the rules.

So shame on all of you!

Did you read the part where OP said that she knew more about this than what was in the paper because her FI and FILs work at the hospital?  She know the names thanks to the news coverage and is allegedly getting additional information not disclosed to the public.  That is absolutely a HIPAA violation.

As for this thread getting nasty and is unrelated to weddings...first, this is the chit chat board.  The one you are invited to come chat on about things other than weddings.  Second, when you post that you don't know how a doctor can go on living after something like this, you are inviting a lot of passionate responses.  Third, you may want to get out of the double digits on your posts before you start lecturing the rest of us on how to behave.

    1) Your definition of HIPPA violations is extremely limited and just plain wrong. I would love to know what your exact medical profession is.

    2) Do you make mistakes at work?  Do you think you deserve to be executed for your mistakes? Because that is what OP is suggesting happen to doctors.  So yeah.....most people will probably have a problem with that and let her know their thoughts.  So shame on.....what?  Free speech?  Go to wedding bee and cry to them about it.
