Are you having alot of readings?

In your ceremony?

Am I the only one who just wants the processional, the Lords Prayer, the Charge, my 3 Stranded cord,  - and then we march out - lol!  Trying to keep it simple!  But then of course everyone keeps telling me all this stuff that MUST be included!

In addition to the charge, vows, rings, and Cord of Three Strands, we're doing a Covenant Ceremony, so there will be a "semonette" about how marriage is a covenant, not a contract, and with that, the enitre BP will sign the Covenant with us and our officiants at end of the ceremony.  The only reading we have is "These Hands," which is read by our MOH and Best Man.  We're also having a Gospel message during the ceremony.  I tried to time it as best I could, not knowing how long my pastor will make the Gospel presentation, and it'll be around 45 minutes from the nephews lighting the candles to the recessional.

We had two readings and two songs in addition to the vows and normal stuff.  My sister read one of the scriptures and talked for a couple minutes about the significance of the scripture to us.  I don't think it hurts to skip readings but I thought it would only be a couple of extra minutes and it added something to the meaning of our ceremony.

Talk to your pastor to see if thats okay if you don't want any readings. We are doing 3 readings and a full sermon. We are trying to blend the ceremony with our two Christian denominations, Methodist and Catholic.

My feeling was that I actually wanted to the ceremony to be a little longer because to me the actual ceremony is the reason we are all getting together in the first place.

We won't be having any children at the ceremony so it's more than okay if our ceremony takes up to an hour.

We're having three readings (OT, epistle, and Gospel) and four hymns, as well as a short sermon.

My pastor also said to us, "With a longer ceremony, you get to show off your dress in front of everyone for more time!"  Funny thing for him to say, but I thought it was clever.
