Congrats Mariah! It is very cool to see you get your dream, after reading about the stuff you went through last summer trying to find a teaching position

And unfortunately, flaming is part of it, whether we do it on the forum or not.  And actually, I just had "flaming" in a computer class textbook I was in... it's a real thing.  I personally, have no problem with anyone "flaming" me... no matter its it on a FFF or not.  I think it's constructive, and it would be way more helpful if everyone could view it as such.

I think getting feelings hurt on an online forum... well, that's just silly.

I had to do a nice 25 page undergrad thesis on Flaming & Anonymity in Virtual Communication. So I kind of consider myself an expert. But not really. :)

I don't think it is silly to get your feelings hurt, though. We are all real people, and I think some of us know one another pretty decently for having never met. And I've met some of you too! I would be hurt if someone outright attacked me. That being said, I don't think today was that bad--it was legitimately worse and relatively mean in the past and I am honestly glad we are past that point. A little snarkiness here and there isn't so bad, though

I will point out that I only said that it would have been nice that she got to do it.  It has never been "only the moderator can start a thread".

I also think that AWing is not something that is negative and doesn't belong on B&M or FFF.  OL, SA and, of course, AW are all open and game but why would you want to put your awesome news on the post about negative stuff?  It just really doesn't make sense to me.
