New Year's Eve

Let's start talking about the next holiday!

What are your plans for NYE? Anything fun and exciting?

(Yes this was my Nook thread but I found the answer online, who'd have thought!)

Re: New Year's Eve

  • Hanging out, drinking copious amounts of alcohol, eating appetizers and just enjoying life. I plan to make a hot crab dip, some asiago and artichoke cheese puffs we tried today, and some other things.
  • H is on call. I plan to wear something sparkly. (Which means I have to shop for something sparkly.) We're going to buy some sparkling grape juice, and maybe order some pizza or go out to dinner.

We're wild young people I tell you, wild.

  • Oh Jas :) I want to wear something sparkly! What do I have that's sparkly...

Actually who am I kidding. If I manage to stay awake that late it will be in my pj's.
  • Footie pajamas are also a good choice. Do you have footie pajamas?
    image
  • I have to work until 6:30, so we'll probably just stay home and make Kamakozis and Screwdrivers. We're not really social people anyway.

  • Usually we hang out at H's aunt's house with his family, because his sister INSISTS on it.  We just found out that she can't be in town this year, so we're still trying to figure out what to do with our newly found NYE freedom.  We may go to a friend's house, for food and hanging out, but they're not drinkers, so we're not sure yet if that's what we want to do.
  • All of the leftover wine and beer from our wedding is waiting for us at a friend's house. She hosts a party every year, so she just brought it home from the venue for us. I won't be drinking though.

  • I think since we're both working that day, and the day after, we'll probably stay home. I will try to get pomegranate juice, and champagne for myself, but we'll most likely be in bed by 12.
  • I will probably be A) running in circles and jumping on the bed, 2) crying in the fetal position on the floor (preferably carpeted) or iii) repainting my nails for the 14th time.
  • We have dinner reservations at a nice steakhouse with our BM and his now FI!  They got engaged on Christmas.  We'll probably come back to our place and celebrate with them and watch Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffith. (sp?)

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
  • We were considering having people over, but I'm not sure how that will pan out.  IF FI makes it home tomorrow night, maybe.  If he doesn't get home until Wednesday, definitely not.  Our anniversary is tomorrow, so we need our nice date night.

But I will be wearing sparkly eyeshadow and maybe a sparkly shirt :)
  • CS, that sounds like somewhere James Bond would be.  Are you saying you think James Bond is a pain in the ass?
  • Kim what is your wedding date? I am thinking it is the first. Am I nuts?

[QUOTE]Don't know yet. We're thinking about partying it up the Seattle Space Needle but we're not sure if we want to spend $500 for the two of us. It comes with a 6-course meal and unlimited champagne and dessert though, plus parking. We still have to get a hotel too and it's a black-tie so I don't know. It sounds fun but at the same time, it sounds like a pain in the arse too.

That does sound really fun, but I don't know if I'd be up to it either. And that's expensive.. Yeesh.
  • That's how things are here, CS.  All the bars, especially by the city, will have $100 or $200 entrance fees, but it will be open bar and partying for the ball drop.  Some do dinner, as well, for more money.  We just wonder if it's worth it or not to spend that much on one night.
  • Nates, is the $100/200 per person? Cuz these prices you guys are naming seem RIDICULOUS to me. But, if it's per couple, I could see that being worth it, if you guys have nothing to do on NY, and want to get completely trashed. Lol.

Per person. It's not too expensive for our area, especially considering we live right outside of NYC.  But, yeah, it's a lot for one night. It's even more in the city around Times Square.

It's highly likely that I am.

Are you guys going on a honeymoon?

  • I'm trying to think if I've ever done anything fun on New Year's Eve. I think the most exciting one I had was when I was 20. We got wasted beyond belief and I almost was in a threesome. Then we played strip beer pong against my ex and his friend and they lost. Then my ex's roommate peed on my ex's door while he (ex) was having sex with his new gf.

    Heh..that was a fun night.
  • KW, that sounds like an amazing night.

<div>Yep.  We leave on the 5th for Puerto Rico where we'll be for a few days before getting on a cruise that will hit a bunch of different islands.</div>
  • Aw, my grandparents got married on NYE.

Kim, I love PR so much when I went.  You're going to have a great time there.  What other islands are you hitting?

    KW--that is an amazing night!
  • Its my birthday, so I'm hoping for cake. I might also buy a new outfit... we usually go to a friends house to shoot the cannon at midnight. :D
  • Puerto Rico sounds amazing right about now. Enjoy the sunshine!

  • We are going to go out for the first time in the 7 NYE that FI and I have been together. We are going out with my cousin and her new FI, her best friend and best friends new FI. I am excited about getting out and doing something fun for NYE and I think it may require a new outfit!

It definitely requires a new outfit.

  • My friend is having a party at her house that we'll prob go to.  Another friend is having a party at a club, but I don't feel like going to a club.  I also want to wear something sparkly!

FI and I met on NYE so it's also an anniversary for us.
  • I just realized that H and I have been married for 6 months today. I've yet to print/frame wedding pictures.
