Baby in a movie theatre?

Re: Baby in a movie theatre?

  • I agree with ppl that if its a kids movie than you should probably take a chance with  smaller kids and the random noises that come from them. But any adult or R movies should be off limits to kids under 8 maybe even 10.

I HATE when parents bring in small children or babies to a rated R movie. When POTC: World's End came out, I couldn't wait to see it (love that Johnny Depp :) ) and went to see it with some friends for a girl's night out. Got there and as fate would have it a family who brought their 5 year old and 12 year old (just a guess with those ages) sat right in front of me and my friends. I have heard from other friends that this movie was a bit darker (more killing) and I knew the 5 year old girl was not going to handle. And what do you know with the opening scene with them hanging people she burst into crying. She cried I would say at least 4 more times throughout the movie and the parents wouldn't take her out, she would eventually calm down but it would take around 3 minutes or so for her settle. Just so very irritating to spend money and to have to listen to a child cry LOUDLY in some cases that you can't even hear the dialogue during the movie. I had to hold my friend back from not approaching the parents and asking for her money back. lol

I've also had dislike when mother's bringing babies into a library and letting them cry and cry as they are browsing on the internet. I have experience this one, quite often. :(

  • It's like moms and their babies are taking over the world.

  • Late and off topic, but John Krasinski was the best part of that movie I thought. I mean I liked the movie a lot, but he cracked me up :)

[QUOTE]Oh, and in church and similar places where it's "ok" in my book to take a baby. I'm a bit more tolerant of crying, but if a kid starts, you should walk out with him.

Amen on the "walk out with him" part. One of my friends and I went to dinner for New Years Eve and she brought her 1 1/2 year old with. We met at the restaurant at 9pm (M's bedtime is normally 7) after she and her husband had worked all day (leaving the kid with the sitter). M wanted nothing more than to sit on her mom or dads lap and cuddle, but they were insisting she sit in the wooden booster seat. She starts screaming hysterically and they're just like "oh ignore her and she'll stop eventually". 30 minutes later the manager comes over to ask if she can be of any assistance and the dad takes her outside until she settles down.
I'm all for starting manners at a young age, but seriously, don't make an entire room victim to teaching an infant to be quiet at dinner, especially when its 2 hours past their bedtime.
