Re: Where did everyone go?

  • I was just wondering the same thing...

I'm in snow day: the sequel, and am heading outside shortly to help FI clean up some of the mess.

Almost everything is still shut down, and all the roads into and out of town are closed.

  • ** sorry, it posted twice and I deleted the second one... Ugh, that only used to happen on fb. My computer is dying ...

  • I want to say yay to your snow day, but boo to cleaning up the mess. I am sorry about that

serious, it is like everyone fell off the face of the planet.

  • Yeah it has been slow lately. I think Edie can't knot from work so that is part of it. FI and I are going to a reception at the deans house tonight since he got tenure in the last year. I wa excited because FI got home last night from work at a reasonable hour. He got home at like 6 pm

  • Morning, ladies!! I can't believe it, but I got up and hit the treadmill first thing. I'm going to try to workout in the morning from now on. I feel like I'm less grumpy about it. I have some cleaning to do, then some wedding stuff :) starting to address STDs and need to make a dressing shopping apt. Eeek!
  • Yay for FI's being home, Mine is gone again.

I want to start working out in the mornings, I can't get off my butt to do it..
so right now the goal is to just go..

Dress shopping I think was my favorite part.

  • I'm here! Busy season is already eating my sack lunch.
*back into the abyss I go*
  • Apple, I'm really nervous about dress shopping. I honestly think the dresses are so stupidly overpriced and I get really self concious. I also am guilty about who I'm bringing/not. This time I'm going with just my mom, but I know FMIL will be disappointed but I don't want too many opinions.
  • I was super nervous too. and I felt guilty too, when I first went i just brought my mom and one bridesmaid but then family started getting grumpy with me so I set another appointment with way too many people. I wish I would have just stuck with maybe FMIL and my mom and a bridesmaid.

it was way too hard with too many people. My mom felt the need to invite my aunts because im the only girl on her side of the family and they wouldn't get to experience this.
I felt bad so I did but it was a lot of people..

but the dress shopping itself was fine I think just don't even look at anything out of your pricerange and you are fine.
I had to keep telling myself that. But it worked out I found an amazing dress on sale even. I will cross my fingers for you!

  • I liked dress shopping too. It was really fun. I never brought more than 2 people with me which were my mom and sister. FMIL lives too far away though so I luckily didn't have to worry about that. My advice is be calm and try to be open minded. Try all different styles

  • Dress shopping was my favorite part, too. Don't stress, and try to have fun with it! How often to we get to play dress up any more?  :)

Was really hoping to come back and tell ya'll I totally rocked that interview, but sadly, I cannot. I was a ball of nerves and feel like I really flubbed a couple important questions. I finished strong, though, with some good follow up questions of my own, so... fingers crossed.

  • Thanks, ladies! I'm nervous for now reason, really. We're ready to buy a dress, but I have no expectations of getting one on the first day. If I find a couple I like, I'll probably invite my MOH & FMIL to come see the choices.

Don't rule out anything! My dress was the second one I put on, in my first appointment. I tried on a few others but nothing else felt right!
I agree about more people being more drama, I went with my stepmom, my aunt and my cousin because we were away on a girls weekend, more than that would've been crazy.

  • Good morning everyone! I had a lazy morning and am off to work at 12. This is my slow week, things start getting crazy for me the second week of the month. I found my perfect invitations on vistaprint, but I'm not sure if it's too early to order them? (wedding isn't until September) They keep trying to entice me with coupons.

  • Angel, I feel like vistaprint is always sending out coupons, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. That being said, if your details are set, why not order them? There are lots of ladies on the September board that have ordered theirs already!

  • lol that just makes me feel like a slacker, I am just thinking about ordering mine lol

  • Morning!

I agree it's definitely been quiet around here. I know Edie has been missing because of her new job, but where is Brittany too?

Good luck dress shopping, MissSunShine! I took only my mom and FMIL. I didn't want many opinions. My MIL has two sons, so I knew she'd be so happy for the chance to go with us. We had a nice day together, stopping for lunch in between appointments. It was a good way to have the mothers bond a little bit too. I think my dress was the 5th the one I tried on, but in total I think I tried about 20 between the two appointments I had. Nothing lived up to one I liked the best, so I knew that was "the one."

Pickle, fingers crossed for your new job prospect!

H did our taxes this weekend. We got back way more than we were expecting, so that was awesome. I guess buying a home and getting married has a lot more tax benefits than we knew!

  • Morning! I just got to work and have a major headache and only got about 3 hours of sleep. FI is a sleeping, snoring bear lately. I told him if it doesn't get better, he's going to get a sleep study done as he likely has sleep apnea. I also know it does get better when he's working out, and since hurting his back, he's been slacking, so he plans on getting back into that routine soon too.

I loved wedding dress shopping. I only went to two stores, one was a sample sale and the other I just knew it was the dress. My mom had tears the second she saw me in it.

I'm thinking of having the printer print our invitations this week so that I can start addressing them. I know that if I don't get a head start on it, I'll be scrambling to get them finished. I need to figure out how I'm going to do the writing - I'm left handed and don't have the most fancy writing. I'm going to probably try printing some in a really light color and then going over it with a marker/pen to make it look like I did it. We'll see.

  • Angel, if you've found invitations you really like, and aren't the type of person to second guess or change your mind, go ahead and get them early - assuming all the details like the starting times are set in stone.

For addressing our wedding invitations, my mom and MIL helped me out. My script handwriting is like a 5th graders, so it was in their best interest to help me out, lol. We made a night out of it. I provided some wine, dinner and snacks, and they addressed everything while I put on the stamps and stuffed the envelopes. All other DIY projects I did completely myself, so I didn't think it was too much trouble to ask for a little help for a couple hours just once.

  • Hi! sorry, I've been super busy at work.

Today I'm feeling yucky, I'm super naseous and tired and have a headache blegh.

Dress shopping was fun, and I found my dress 75% off :)

Not much is new here, Alice has figured out how to open her crate, so we have a smarty pants on our hands, and We finally have a close date for the house :) 4/22 YAY, we're working on picking out colors for the house, and H is trying to insist we paint the spare bedrooms, which are going to be kids room, and I don't want to have to do it again, so maybe we'll have a happy surprisea and they i'll know what color to paint it lol.
    image
  • Brittany, it's so nice that you'll have the house interior painted for you. H and I have painted 95% of our house since moving in. The only rooms left are the dining room and kitchen, which will be the hardest color to decide. Oh and we still have to paint the trim in the whole entire house. When we bought the place everything was beige on beige and even the outside is beige with a beige deck. I guess they loved beige or hated any color at all.

Having a closing date this early is so nice! It was a nightmare trying to get a date for ours. We didn't know until the day of closing that we were closing - if that makes sense? We kept pushing to get a final date because we had to move out of our apartment and would have been homeless or would have had to put our stuff in storage and live at our parents' house if we didn't close on the date that we did.

Moving was exciting, but seriously so stressful for us. I'm happy you're having an easier time!

  • Thanks Buzz, that's good advice. I'm thinking that since we know our ceremony start time (6pm since its a Friday) and the reception is immediately after and at the same location, we're good to go. We're doing our pictures before the ceremony, and a short cocktail hour afterwards. Followed by dinner. Am I missing anything? I've put on the invitations: "Reception to immediately follow"

  • Buzz, did you build?

Oh no we have to paint, we don't own the house until we close, so the builder doesn't want "our colors" in the house, H is taking off the week we close and my dad is goign to help him paint, and I'm taking off the monday and friday the week we close(it's nice it's on a monday so we can get the house ready)

I really want to go home....

I've been busy at work too.  Been lurking every so often though.

Dress shopping was super easy for me and not stressful at all.  I'm not much of a shopper but when I do shop, I know what I want and I don't mess around.  I tried on maybe 5 or 6 dresses.  The dress I went with was the 4th or 5th and it was everything I said I didn't want - lol.

We bought new construction and we had to paint, too.  The builders painted a color of our choice, but every wall needed to be that color.  So we just had them do white.  We painted our living/dining/kitchen, family room, and master bedroom.  We'll paint more when we have the time/energy.  Give me a few and I'll post some pics.

We had another OB appointment last night.  Everything went well.  Let me tell you though, I am so terrified before every appointment.  I am a worrier, so naturally I'm worried that we'll get bad news.  It sucks, because these appointments are supposed to be exciting.  Hopefully I'll get over it soon.  Baby's HR is 152.  I'm thinking it's a girl.

  • Angel, I think that's fine. What design are you choosing? I recently took a look at vistaprints invitations and they seem to have a lot more new designs from last year.

Brittany, no we didn't build. In our area of NJ that just isn't possible in our price range. We spent almost a year house hunting, but it was worth the wait. Somehow we found a great house, for a great price in our home town - which we never thought we could afford to move to. Actually, a week ago was the one year mark of when we officially went under contract, and the end of March will be one year in our house. We closed on our house, moved out of our apartment, and moved into our new home on a Friday. The entire weekend was nonstop unpacking, making multiple trips to Home Depot, and cleaning. It was exhausting but the end of the weekend we felt so accomplished.

Can you leave work early if you're not feeling good? I hope you feel better!

  • Just AWing our painting...

This is the family room (the green really isn't as bright as it looks)...

This is the living room and dining room.  To the left (where you can see the counter) is the kitchen which is the same color.

This is the master bedroom.  We were going to do all blue, but it was a bit too bright.  So we ended up just doing a blue accent wall.
