  My sister did DIY tote bags a few years ago, with my nephew's hand print on them. She bought everything at Michael's - the tote bags, a special kind of paint (for the handprint), and a bunch of iron-on patches. I would imagine they have iron-on initials too. The totes that she made weren't very fancy or flashy, they were just a basic canvas tote, but very cute...and they have held up well over the past few years! The patches haven't fallen off or anything.

  I was going to make my own, but then I found great ones at Christmas Tree Shops, $3.99 for the smaller one (which is still a decent size), and $5.99 for the big.

  I did the same thing for my ladies. I got them on ebay from this seller: timlinauctions. They were great. I bought 6 of the totes for 50 bucks. They have a ton of colors, font styles, and they bags came out great. Not cheap and tacky which I was terrified of. I highly reccomend this seller. I got them within a week and not one mistake. You can have all different colors or all one color depending on what you choose.
