Wedding Invitations & Paper

is my printer lying to me?

can you do offset printing on a texturized paper? I just got the samples for the paper in the mail and they are incredibly smooth, and the guy said they cant print on texturized paper with offset printing.

I am having a hard time believing this? anyone offset printing on a texturized paper?

I think I should say that we are supposed to be getting $1000 of invites because of a trade we made with the company. (fiance is a wedding photog and is cutting that from his costs for the owners photos). I feel like they arent being honest and are tring to do this as cheaply as possible.

Re: is my printer lying to me?

  • Most textured papers I've seen are either engraved or letterpressed. You say it's smooth, though so I am leaning toward your thought that they are trying to save a buck.

Perhaps you should go to another printer and ask for a quote -- with your paper sample -- and see what they say. Then take that information back to the first printer.

  • I'm doing digital offset with a linen cardstock. Not sure what you mean by textured, though. Our printer had no problem with the paper, but I haven't seen a proof yet, so I'm crossing my fingers!
