This.  A little bit thicker than fishing line.  BF says it pokes him and feels weird, but it doesn't hurt or scratch.

I've been on a mess of things. BCP (several brands) and Depo were awful for me. Nuva RIng wasn't too bad. It was way better than anything I'd tried before, but it still made me crazy, so I eventually stopped.

About a year ago I decided I wanted an IUD. I was going to get Paraguard because I was scared of hormones, but my doctor convinced my to try Mirena instead. Because it does have hormones, FI was put on crazywatch, but after nearly a year, I haven't had any of the personality changes I got from BCP or Nuva Ring.

Insertion wasn't painful at all for me. I've never been pregnant, but I was 30, and I heard it helps to be older. I'm still waiting for my period to completely stop. I just have spotting now and then, which isn't bad at all. I had severe menstrual cramps before, and those are gone. FI has never mentioned noticing the strings, but we also use condoms most of the time. We're trying to leave no room for accidents.

[QUOTE]We use good old fashioned condoms, I was on the pill when I was a teenager but had terrible head aches.  I've considered the Nuvaring but I don't trust myself to do it right every month!

I used to be on the pill and it was such a pain! And I don't really like condoms, TMI I prefer the intamacy that comes with out them.

I am currently on Nuvaring and I love it. It's easy to use and I never have to worry about taking the pill on time every day. I do somehow forget to put it in on time every once in a while though... Woops! :p

This. FI occassionally feels them but doesn't comment too much aside from that he felt it.

I was told by the doctor that it depends on how the strings are cut (your doctor will trim them after insertion). If they are long enough they curl around the cervix and lay flat but if they are cut too short then they'll be felt more often.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Let's Chat About Birth Control : I know...I need to try to make it in here more often. :) We're really excited to go to Cabo.  We are using our 'trial' timeshare for the Cabo Azul Resort, which looks ridiculously nice.  It's not an AI, but I freaking love Mexican food, so I would hate to be stuck with AI Americanized food there.  LOL.  When are you looking to go?

We want to hopefully go in October!!!! I know what you mean by americanized food. When we went to Mexico at the AI it was just terrible attempted verisions of American food.
