My Mom Announced she is getting married as we pick out my dress

This weekend I went shopping for my wedding dress with my mom and bridesmaid. Just after we buy the dress, we walk across the street to celebrate that we found my wedding dress. As we toast to the dress and our glasses "clink", my mother announces she has news.

She is getting married (her 3rd marriage)...next month! This is my first wedding and I am getting married in October. Evidently, she got engaged 2 weeks after me and decided to tell me 5 months later.

Why now? She couldn't wait until after my wedding? Does anyone else see this as selfish or am I being a drama queen?

    You're being a drama queen. She's not marrying your Fi, she's not getting married on the same date as you and it doesn't matter which marriage this is for her.

    Your being a drama queen.  Maybe she should have told you about the engagement sooner, but maybe she didn't want to jack your engagement.  I'd venture there will be some difference between her third and your first wedding.  Even if there isn't there is still 5 months between them.

    You are being a drama queen. Your mom let you have the spotlight solely on you for the past 5 months probably because she was afraid you would respond like this. 

    Please don't act as if your mother's wedding (even if it is her 9th) will somehow ruin your day 5 moths later.

    For all that is decent please be happy for her, as she is for you!

    The verb tenses in your subject line make it sound like your mother's wedding is being held in the bridal shop while you pick out your dress. That probably would be something you'd have a right to be upset about. Since it turns out that that's not the case and you're just a horrible writer, I'll say you're being a drama queen.

    I'm confused. She's getting married next month (June) and you want her to wait until after YOUR wedding (October) to tell you about her engagement/marriage? 

    This doesn't exactly compute.

    And yes, you're being a drama queen.

    I'm not gonna lie - wedding dress shopping is a terrible time to announce your engagement. Other than her crappy timing on announcing her engagement you really don't have a leg to stand on. Try to be happy for her, just as she's been happy for you this whole time.

    I don't understand why you're asking if she shouldn't wait until after your wedding to get married herself.  Is there some sort of mandatory waiting period, like when you buy a handgun?

    your OP is incorrect - she announced her wedding after you bought your dress, not while you were shopping. even so, what's the big deal? I'm assuming if she is giving you a month's notice, this isn't going to be some huge black tie affair for 500 people. i don't get why you can't be happy for her. I can completely understand why she waited so long to tell you because your reaction is total spoiled brat.
