Spanx Suggestions

Hi Girls! I am the maid of honor in a wedding in May and I love the bridesmaids' dresses and it fits me pretty well, but I think I would feel a little more comfortable with a good pair of spanx. Does anyone recommend a specific kind? I got on the website and was a little overwhelmed with all the different types! My "problem area" is definitely my love handles/stomach if that helps with a suggestion!

I like the Higher Power. they go mid-thigh, sort of like bike shorts and pull up above your bra line. They smooth out the belly and the hips.

There are two versions of "higher power". One has "medium" slimming effect and the other has "super" slimming effect. If you feel like you need extra tuck, go for the super. But, be prepared, neither of these are particularly comfortable for the first time wear. You will feel like a sausage at first.

i've never bought spanx but have bought other products like it. The top always seems to roll over making more bulges and harder to breath. Any suggestions on how to keep the body shaper from rolling over??

If the top is rolling, its probably one size too small. I also usually pull mine all the way up and tuck it underneath my bra. That seems to help hold it in place and also reduces lines.

P.S. - the other non-spanx brands tend to not hold their shape as well. I bought a couple from department stores and one from target, which is a brand ("assets" I think, that is made by spanx), but the fabric quality is not as nice and I didn't have as much luck with them holding me in. I would suggest spending the extra 10-15 dollars and buying spanx.

I wore the high power ones when I tried on my wedding dress (my first time wearing spanx) and it worked really well. I think I am going to end up buying one to go under my dress. I have since bought the shirt one (the one that dips down under the bra). It bothers my arms a little bit because it is scooped back so much. I also have a non spanx, but similar product in a dress/slip form that I like too. I got that one at JCPenney's. LINK <-- This is kind of similar, but mine has removable straps.

I tried a band that looks like a skirt but you pull it up to under your bra and it flattens your belly and sides and goes to the bottom of you bottom. That is what worked best for me, spanx were too hard to get up and down.

I agree that the Assets line from Target does not hold up as well. It's good for smoothing lines, but it doesn't suck it all in like other things. I think that Spanx work well with thinner material, but I like a full on girdle for anything I can get away with it under. I like the thicker fabric and, to me, it holds me in better. It also doesn't roll down, which I think is partly happens with newer-school models because they're trying to make the seams lay flat.

I like the idea of a full body, and I personally like the ones that still have the shorts and the bottom to prevent the dreaded thigh rub.
