Married Oct 13! PIP

Alrighty, so since I love creeping everyone else's wedding photos, I figured I should post some of mine for others to creep haha. The photographer posted one teaser photo on his blog here: http://anthonyr.ca/blog/mariage/voutes-cavour-quebec/  It took a little while before I noticed, but the photographer photoshopped out an ugly scab on my arm, which is awesome. It was my battle wound from the citadelle, I was attacked by a pole with a screw sticking out of it.

Overall the day was awesome, despite some snags. While getting my hair done I broke my rhinestone hair comb. Luckily I had packed my hot glue gun with me, so we glued it back together. Then, after the car left to take my bridesmaids to the church, it never came back for me! Thankfully, the church wasn't far. After waiting and joking about having to walk, I actually did have to walk. My friends were wondering what was taking me so long to get there and looked outside only to see the car still sitting there. So my sister had to run out and tell him he was supposed to go back and get me. It was too late by that point and I was just coming around the corner when he started driving back. It was fine, we booked a hotel really close to the churvch so I just laughed it off and the photographer took lots of pictures of us walking. I made sure to tell everyone that's why I was late because I didn't want them to think I wasn't ready! The officiant also kept pronouncing DH's (ha husband) name wrong, even though the officiant is also French he kept pronouncing his name the English way, and it's even spelt with an accent in it. It wasn't until I had to say his name, and I pronounced it correctly, that the officiant started saying his name properly. Now onto some photos!!
My bridesmaids waiting for me to get to the church.
Our first kiss! I was told we had the best wedding kiss ever! I think we had like, 3 kisses.
Us after the ceremony. We actually took our family photos outside the church across the street because our church was covered in scaffolding.

Our cake that was SO delicious. It was red velvet, and each layer had three fillings: milk chocolate, cream cheese with strawberries, and white chocolate.

Laughing during most of our first dance because the DJ somehow found a German version of our first dance song and played that by accident. So the dance started with us saying to eachother "Is that German? That sounds German. I'm pretty sure this song is in German.."

Even though it was the wrong song we still enjoyed our dance :) Just add that to the list of funny things that went wrong.

Instead of clinking glasses, the DJ asked tables questions about us and if they got it right we kissed, but if they got it wrong they had to kiss someone. After my aunt answered wrong for how DH husband proposed, my cousin suddenly remembered and screamed "Oh I know! It was on Valentine's Day! IN BED!". So she got to choose how we kissed, and she chose that classic sailor dip kiss. After we kissed, the DJ said I had to dip DH. Last time we tried that I dropped him, but thankfully this time I didn't, it doesn't look like the DJ had much faith in me though!

This is after he took off the garter. He noticed it seemed heavy and thought it was caught on my shoe. When he took it off, he looked at it and said "What the..?" so I said "Oh wait! I need something first!"
BAM I grabbed my garter from him and took out my secret flask! Haha, I had filled it with Disaronno, so I took a shot then handed it to him to take a shot. Best garter belt EVER.

For the garter toss the DJ made the guys 'work for it'. After giving me their shoes a bunch of them started reenacting Wayne's World with the "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" scene haha it was hilarious.

It was such a good day! During the ceremony I got tunnel vision and could only really see DH. I thought something was wrong with my contacts then realized, nope, this is just what people mean when they talk about tunnel vision. The reception was great, the food and service were amazing and the DJ was absolutely awesome. I'm SO glad we chose him. He flipped back and forth between French and English constantly and effortlessly, so everyone understood everything. I don't know how he did it so fluidly! Everyone was also pretty excited about the candy bar. I had so much fun!

Now I should stop babbling, and go creep other people's pictures! haha

Re: Married Oct 13! PIP

  • Congratulations! Your church, dress and reception venue all look gorgeous! I love your BM dress colors (its pretty close to one of my wedding colors). I'm curious what song the DJ was supposed to play. I know of a couple songs that the Beatles did in German but I wouldn't consider them "first dance" songs ("She loves you" and "I want to hold your hand").

  • Beautiful!  Congratulations!
  • Thanks everyone! It's weird but it makes me excited to see all the tickers that have a few days left, because I enjoyed the day SO MUCH and can't wait for you guys to as well!!

CFM10212 - the song was For Me Formidable by Charles Aznavour. It's an old French song that had a mix of English in it, and if you read the lyrics it sounds like the song is about him falling for an English girl. Husband used to sing it to me a bunch when we first started dating, so he picked that to be our first dance song. For the end of the song DH just started belting out the French words at the top of his lungs to try and be louder than the German song playing haha.

Schnugglebug - it was in Quebec City! The ceremony was in the walls of Old Quebec close to the Frontenac, and then the reception was in the lower city in Place Royale, around the corner from Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. DH's cousin lives in Gatineau! You posted a picture one time with a sign in French and I thought "Ooo is someone else getting married in Quebec??" and I got weirdly excited about that for some reason. We live in Halifax though, I'm originally from here and DH got posted here with the Navy. We chose Quebec to get married because basically all of his family lives around the area, whereas my side is in Manitoba, New Brunswick, and a couple in Nova Scotia. Oh, and because Old Quebec is absolutely beautiful!
  • Looks like you had a very fun reception!!!  Congrats!! You look beautiful & I just love when the grooms wear their uniform!
