Nervous to book venue!

Hi all,

we toured the calhoun beach club tonight and actually found everything we were hoping for in a venue. We wanted an indoor ceremony and reception site, for around 150,  and both are gorgeous there. I've heard that once you find something you like available on your date you should book asap,  but I'm still incredibly nervous that I just haven't "shopped around" enough. How many places should you tour before you know you've found the best one? has anyone been there for a wedding? am I being ridiculous to want to keep looking after i've found something thats what I want?

    I don't think there is a set amount of venues you should look at.  If you think it's "the one", go for it!

    I feel in love with a venue, but FI wasn't so sure.  So to appease him, we went & looked at a few more venues.  Needless to say, we booked the venue I loved, because nothing else could compare!  = )

    We spent one day looking at venues - we knew what we wanted, what we could afford - I think we looked at about 7.  However, our church is in Coon Rapids and we didn't want our guests to travel far , so there really aren't too many choices up here, but I'm sure there are tons in the cities and south.  But if it feels right, book it!  I'd probably search a couple more, just to see if they offer anything that another venue might not - our selling points were:
    Smoking and drinking were permitted outdoors
    There was no venue rental charge fee
    The cake went towards our food/bev minimum
    We could overbudget on kegs/wine -anything we didn't open, we could return
    Overnight parking was available for guests

    Just make sure to ask a lot of questions about things you think are important!

    I contacted many but only visited one and booked it on the spot.  The Calhoun Beach Club is beautiful- I went to a wedding reception there maybe 5 years ago, and it was gorgeous.  I say go for it!

    Ditto skpurnell - I looked into a bunch, emailed a bunch for more info, but only toured one and booked it from Ireland because that's how sure I was that it was *the* venue. I think most venue's will give you a one week hold after you've toured it, so maybe you could do that to secure the date, and then look at a few other places this week so you feel better about the decision.

    I think once you get "that feeling", its pretty hard to shake it. Even before I toured Landmark Center, I kind of always had an inkling that it would be perfect for me. That was mainly because I've been through the building many times in my life so I already knew what it would look like. I looked through many online, and toured probably 5 before making the final decision. Even so, when I was touring the others, I still had this strong feeling toward the Landmark Center. If you really feel that it is your dream venue, I wouldn't wait too long.

    There's no 'set' number of venues you should tour before booking one. If it feels right and you're able to do what you want within your budget, go for it. I didn't tour very many simply because I had looked at SO many venues online and narrowed them down pretty quickly.

    Can the pencil you in without a deposit for a couple of weeks? That could allow you to save the date you want while you get to look at a few more sites. I know it is hard to pick... I went through about 4 first choice venues before finally settling on ours!

    We only looked at one because we knew that's where we wanted to get married.  I don't think you'll regret your choice if you know :)

    We also only looked at one...they were the caterer that we knew we wanted and only had a few venues that they cater from, otherwise had to pay more to have them cater off-site. So the one we looked at was the only one that would work for our size/budget and thankfully we loved it!
