Minneapolis Reception Site Ideas

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if you gals had any suggestions for my boss and his FI.  They just got engaged but are both from out of town (they just moved here in August).  They are looking for a Minneapolis reception site to hold 300 people for next year.  Hopefully something downtown...they want to show off their new hometown.

Since I got married in Winona I never really looked for reception sites here.  The suggestions I already gave him are McNamara, The Varsity and Windows in Minnesota.

Any other suggestions?

TIA!

Do they know where they will be holding their ceremony? This might influence where they want to look for reception sites. For instance if they are having the ceremony and reception downtown they might want to look for sites that are a close walk so guests won't have to park twice.

Also, some advice for planning a city wedding: if they haven't already picked a date take into consideration the sports schedules. It might sounds stupid, but they probably don't want to have all their guests commuting downtown at the same time as a major sports event.

The ceremony won't be an issue because I believe they are having only a few guests at the courthouse earlier in the week.  Not sure why though...

St. Anthony Main Event Center - it's our location, and has an amazing view of DT, and can definitely hold 300.

There is NO better way to show off their new state than by having their reception at Windows on MN. The views are incredible and you can see EVERYTHING! Its where we are having our reception! The food is spectacular, the Marquette Hotel is right there, guests get free parking at the IDS ramp, and the staff has been AMAZING to work with!

The Galaxy room and the Stars room can hold up to 500 and 400 people, respectively.

I'd also recommend The Depot on Washigton Ave. Their historic ballroom used to the the train depot, and it's absolutely beautiful. Pricey, but very nice.

The Varsity Theater has been wonderful so far!  It is such a unique venue, and the Loring Pasta Bar does the catering.  Yum!

Ditto Mill City... It shows off so much of what this city is built on. The riverfront is like our bread and butta!

Solera would be fun, as would The Depot as mentioned.  HTH!

Also, Polichick is having her wedding at a place called Spill the Wine, not sure they can hold 300 though...
