Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

help!

Hi! My name is Jillian... I'm new to the boards and newly engaged (2 days before Christmas to be exact)

Anywho, I'm feeling lots of stress! We are shooting for an October wedding (haven't decided on a date for sure) and I'm curious if anyone has hired a wedding planner in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Also, if you have please let me know any comments or feedback that you have about them.. It would be SO greatly appreciated!

Also... venues!? I know this post is all over the place (sorry!) but we want to get married outside. Any suggestions? Prefer Fort Worth but anywhere in DFW that you could suggest would be awesome! Thanks in advance Smile

I'm no help, I just wanted to say hi and welcome!  I got engaged on Dec. 23 of 2008!  It would be helpful to know the size of your guest list, your budget, if you want something formal or casual, etc. in suggesting venues.  You'll get lots of help here.   (But not from me on venues heh, I'm a Dallas girl!  Also my venue came with an event planner--some places do which is great.)
(my fiance does this for a living so anyone interested let me know or e-mail him! His e-mail is on the site :)!
Welcome to the boards, Jillian and congratulations on your engagement!

Before I go any further, I want to tell you that you can't pimp out your FI's business.  I'm sorry-but that's one of the rules on the Knot.  So from here on out, please don't offer up his services to any of the knotties.

My venue came with a coordinator, so I can't help you there.

As far as venues, what is your budget and how many people are you putting on your guest list?  I got married at The Wildwood Inn Bed and Breakfast in Denton.  It's a maximum of 125 people, but it's a great venue and I loved it!  I got so many compliments on it.  We were married outside and the reception was held inside.  Have you also looked into the Fort Worth Botantical Gardens?

And lastly, relax!  You've got a ton of time to figure everything out!  Just remember to breathe and you'll be fine :)

First, Stephie... thanks for the welcome and congrats! That's so awesome that we both got engaged 2 days before Christmas just different years :)

I'm not opposed to a Dallas wedding if it feels right... I love the fact that yours came with an event coordinator too.

& Mariah.. thank you too! I'm so sorry, it wasn't my intention to pimp him out... just in case girls needed wedding videos done locally I was letting them know... but thanks for the info., I had no idea!

My budget is $25,000... we haven't written out our complete guest list yet but I'm thinking 150-200 people. We will have 6 bridesmaids/6 groomsmen. Since it's a fall wedding the first color that popped into my head is red... deep crimson with pops of oranges, yellows, brown, and green.

It's crazy that you mentioned the botanical gardens because that is one of the first venues on my list! I will definitely look up Wildwood Inn... I'm going to google it now! haha :)

    Thanks again!

Good to see another Fort Worth bride!  I actually considered the Botanic Gardens when I first got engaged, but in case you don't know, there's only a couple areas where they will let you use chairs for guests during the ceremony.  Both are located in the Japanese Gardens section, I believe.  They're really strict about not damaging the grassy areas, which makes it very difficult to have a larger wedding ceremony in other areas of the park.  Just wanted to give you a heads up!

If you're not opposed to Dallas, the Dallas Arboretum is beautiful for a fall wedding.  It would probably be on the high end of your budget but would be worth looking into.

There are so many great venues in Dallas, it really depends on what style/feel you want for your wedding.  There is the Dallas Aquarium, The Dallas Musuem of Art, The Old Red Museum, the Stoneleigh, Winfrey Point (that's where I'm getting married).  The list really goes on and on.

Does your fiance work with any planners or venues? I would really use him as resource as well.  Of course the Knot is perfect to gather information as well.

    Jillian, congrats and welcome!

I just got married on 10-31-09 in Fort Worth at Robert Carr Chapel and our reception was at the Colonial Club with the rehearsal dinner at City Club in downtown FW.  I had about the same budget as you, a little less, and about the same amount of people.  I know that these aren't outdoor venues but like the previous post said, the first thing that comes to mind is Botanical Gardens or you can do a country club and have the ceremony outdoors, a winery, etc.  I think you will love getting married in October.  I lucked out, the weather was perfect.  If you have any questions regarding the Fort Worth side of things, please feel free to ask!

Congrats on your engagement! This is an exciting time.. a bit stressful but worth it! The boards have helped me so much in my planning! These girls are great and have some wonderful advice!

As far as a venue recommendation, we are getting married at the Stonegate Mansion in Ft. Worth. It is gorgeous. You can go to the site but the pictures just dont do it justice. I have some pictures I took myself if you want me to send them to you. They have an outdoor area that can hold 150 people I believe. We are doing our ceremony indoors because it's in July and I don't want people to melt in the Texas heat. Lauren is their on-site coordinator and she has been great about answering my questions. You do have to rent your linens, silverware, etc but they are also a rental company so they are cheaper than alot of other companies. Included in your rental price is 200 chairs and 20 tables and use of the mansion for the full day. If you can't tell, I am a little crazy about our venue. lol.

    Hope this helps!

I'm absolutely no help, but wanted to say welcome!  If you're up for Dallas, I liked the Texas Discovery Gardens.  They were booked on my date :(
