Poll: Private or Public Wedding License

I'm applying for my license in LA County which is also where I'm getting married, so I can get either one. But I'm wondering which one is better? I'm not even sure what the advantages/disadvantages are of either one. What are you applying for and why?

    For some reason our church required public license so I have no option. Sorry I am no help.

    We went for a public license. I think the private one is more expensive.  Alot of celebrities opt for the private one.

    I think some people might have a reason to go for the private one - like you're a celebrity and you want to keep as much privacy as you can, or you're in the witness protection program....

    But I've got nothing to hide, at least with regards to who I've married...so public all the way!

    I think they're the same cost now. If anything, the private license is cheaper.

    Anyway, you don't need a witness with the private license. I also like that it has benefits - less telemarketing, less chance of identity theft, etc. It's kind of similar to having an unlisted number in the phone book, or having your child's birth certificate listed as confidential (which my parents did). So I like those aspects. However, I'm unsure how it will affect any future descendents who decide to do geneological research.
