6 Marines, 3 couples, 1 squadron

Saw this article and I wanted to share.
I feel like being deployed with my s/o would make me more nervous and more cautious. What does everyone else think? Those of you currently enlisted or prior AD, thoughts?

I'm getting ready to enlist in the medical field. Most likely as a medic but I have thought about being a surgen.

My FI is in a male only MOS. If we were deployed together I would worry that he would be ending up on my table or someone elses.

I don't know if I would worry more than when he's away at training. When I go back to school I plan on being an nurse. I think I would still worry then too.

I don't worry about him deploying. I'm actually okay with it. I worry more about when they train with weapons.

Some of the guys in his unit I don't trust. They have pretty dumb people in his unit. I worry more about them than me.

I know several couples that have been deployed together. Being in a deployed environment with your S/O has some unique challenges, but nothing you can't work though. Plus I think some services let you bunk together, although GO #1 still applies. Not gonna say what I really think about THAT one, LOL.

I feel like it's in the best interest of everyone that couples not be in a combat zone together since it can blur their judgement.  I know that FI wouldn't be able to focus on his job as well if he was worried about my well being.  And I know that if I saw FI hurt it would impair my ability to make rational decisions.

Might depend on career fields? Being in the same unit probably isn't in the best interest of the mission, but being at the same deployed location while working separate, unrelated jobs might be ok.

I agree. Working so closely together would probably be more of a problem. Being deployed at the same time or at the same base, could be good because you ind of have the extra support system there.

Kendall, I'd be worried about him being on my table too. I wasn't even thinking medical occurrences.

My fiance's company had a pretty bad incident during his deployment. Some guys were messing around with guns on guard duty and shot another now the guy's paralyzed!!

I worry about that any ways like during training but I don't ever want to be deployed at the same time if its avoidable. I think all I would do is worry

I'm still a civilian for the time being. But I'm trying to get in that mind set of not..

I know of some of those people, at least by name, lol.

I think it's kind of weird, tbh. FI and I would not be allowed to be in the same unit/squadron, so it's a moot point for me. I just can't imagine. It's so important to me for FI and I to keep our professional lives separate if I ever get in.

I think it's really strange.. I feel like that would be really detrimental to mission effectiveness. Plus, Wouldn't it kind of be rubbing it in the faces of the other SM's deployed without their SO's? It seems kind of unfair, and IMHO ridiculous. I would cause more problems than it would be worth, at least to H and myself..
