Based on the last post, it seemed as though the majority of people live within Baltimore County or City, so I think that's where we should focus on having the next get together!
I've been to two get togethers. The first one was at Bahama Breeze in Towson on the evening of Black Friday, since just about everyone had off work. I think there were 11 or 12 people who came. The other was at a sushi place in Columbia on a weekend, and there were 6 of us. I think somewhere between those two numbers are the usual average for get togethers. I believe there was also a weeknight happy hour get together somewhere in Baltimore City. So really, it's whatever works best for everybody who wants to attend, haha.
Haha, so basically anything. I recently discovered Dangerously Delicious Pies in Fells and I'm mildly obsessed now, but it's pretty small inside so it only works for smaller groups. I'm within walking distance of the Harbor so if we do something during the week, anything there works well for me. I'm pretty flexible, so whatever date gets picked I just need some time to plan my workday if it's during the week.
On the pevious post I suggested the Bay Cafe because it's on the water near Canton but it also has its own lot with ample parking. Weekdays vs weekends really won't matter too much to me because I'm a nurse so work for me can be any day of the week. I'm open minded to anywhere in the city that would be a good environment for chatting!
I'm a big weenie who doesn't drive in the city because I do not have quick enough reflexes to deal with some of the crazy drivers, so I'd have to catch a ride with someone or convince Mr. Arb to take me if it was in the city. For the most part, weekends are better for me, but I do have off the entire week of March 15, so I could do just about any day that week.
The week of March 15th may or may not work for me, FI will be OOT.
What other places might work out in the burbs? Hmmmm..........
Has anyone ever been to Paper Moon Diner? A fun eclectic atmosphere and very relaxed. It's by Hopkins, so technically it's in the city but not quite the downtownish feel of like Canton, Fells, etc.
There's also Padonia Station, Piv's, and Hightopps which are all in Timonium. Would all make for fun get together places.
I'm in favor of the city and a weekend since I don't live in the city or county- I live down in PG County and would have to drive so the weekends definitely work better for me. My October 2010 GTG is April 18 so I'm out for that date but pretty open otherwise except the weekend of march 13-15 for the American Pharmacists Association Meeting! Cant wait to meet everyone!!
The area by Paper Moon is where FI works so it's pretty covenient for me. I used to love Paper Moon but their management changed a while ago and I've been unimpressed the last few times we went, with both the service and the food, so I haven't been back in almost a year. If it's been better since then, I'm happy to hear it. Regardless, I'd still be fine going there for a GTG, it's not like it was disgusting or anything!
Any of those sound good to me! We may want to consider reservations/call ahead seating if we do a weekend though, just because of the crowds. I'm glad you all resurrected this conversation - it will be great to meet everyone!
I live in the city, so my vote is for somewhere downtown. But I will travel to the county. I can't do the weekend of the 13th b/c that is the weekend of my wedding! And the weekend of the 20th I'm on my HM. But any weekend after the 20th works for me.

I'm pretty late on this but I just wanted to say that I would love to come but I don't live in MD at the moment Boo. Maybe we can have another GTG after Memorial Day weekend when I'm back in town?

Any of the locations work for me. As long as their is a place to sit and talk I'm fine, I'm not one for a crowded bar where you have to yell to hear each other though.
Amen Strawberry on not picking a loud place where we have to scream in order to hear each other! That is not ideal for a get-together.
I say someone just picks a place and a date, and we vote on the viability of the gtg. I really won't know what works for me until I know my work schedule unfortunately. And that's not until next week (as a new nurse I won't have any control over my schedule really until like October).
So who wants to pick? I vote Tree because she's the moderator... but I'd be just as happy to help as much as I can without knowing my full availability!
Bmoremegan- we should definitely have another one when the weather gets warmer... preferbly outdoors on the water
Def. interested! However, my schedule is really crazy, I work 3-11 p.m. and my days off change. So it's not like I could meet up after work one day for happy hour or something. Second shift jobs suck! lol. My schedule is out for most of March - the days I could make it is the 13th and 14th (sat/sun) or the 22nd and 23rd (mon/tues). If not, I will try to make the next one.
Re: Baltimore Get Together Date/Location Suggestion Post
I have some thoughts but it depends on this stuff.
Sounds like fun. I work in fells point, but will travel anywhere in baltimore county/city really.

I hate driving anywhere downtown though!
