Cover-up Recs for serious blushing?

Hi Ladies,

I don't post on this board often, but am starting to get concerned about blushing in our wedding photos.  When I get nervous or excited (really anytime my heart rate increases) I get flushed.  My cheeks and the sides of my face turn red and I get red splotches on my neck, chest, and even upper arms.  I don't really try to cover this up day to day, but I'm worried that I'll end up HATING my wedding photos because of it.  In our e-pics I didn't have an issue, and for the most part I don't think I will in the posed shots.  But I'd bet money that I will end up turning red as I walk down the aisle, and I don't want all of the photos of our actual marriage to be ruined by my red face!  Not to mention any candids during the reception when I'll certainly be flushed from dancing.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a rememdy for this, or a cover-up recommendation that will last through the July heat? (ceremony's inside, but some photos will be outside).

TIA!

  • No idea, but I'd be interested to find out. When I get too excited (it has to be really excited) I get red in the face and sometimes a little lightheaded. Seriously, I almost had to sit down when  was thinking about all the places I wanted to go on a Europe trip because I love travelling.
  • the same thing happens to me! I already know I will be red and flushed. I think what I am going to do is ask my photographer if she can edit it out of our photos or at least tone down the redness in my skin, if that makes sense. I'd talk to your photographer and see what he/she says! Best of luck

  • I want to know the answer to this too. I'm a red head, and whenever I get excited, nervous, etc I turn so red that it can practically match my hair color. I've had quite I few family pics that would have been really nice if I was as red as an apple.
  • If you have the redness all the time... I'd suggest a green makeup primer.  Green and red are opposites, so green counteracts red.  If your face looks green, you're using WAY too much.   Smashbox and Pur Minerals both make one.  I prefer smashbox, though.  The Pur Minerals one...it's a lot easier to use too much of it.  And smashbox makes their green primer in a mini travel size which is only like $17 or $18 as opposed to $38 which is the full size.

For foundation, I'd go either to a counter or to a store like Sephora or Ulta and get color matched with a full coverage foundation.  And make sure they use the green primer under it.. because that WILL make a difference.  You want to look for words like "high definition foundation" or "buildable coverage" because those foundations have a lot of pigment in them... and you're using less foundation to get better coverage.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

  • Jan Iredale Amazing base Mineral powder!! I went to school for skin care and I swear to this stuff. I have really red acne scaring and with this stuff you would never know! Its even water proof until you wipe it of with a wet towel. So with tears its perfect. I have used other mineral make up such as Pure Minerals and Bare minerals, which dont even compare to Jan Iredale. Here is the link

  • I would also look into the redness solutions line from Clinique.  It works for Rosacea and some other conditions.  It's helped my face be less-red on a daily basis.
  • Thanks ladies!  I'll definitely look into some of these.  Looks like I've got some testing to do before July :-)
