Paper Lanterns

Do you think paper lanterns (like these) look cute/nice? Are you using them? Or are they cheesy/overdone? I know they've become super popular with wedding decorations.

(I'm trying to figure out how to specify that "this area is the dance floor" since we don't need to rent a dance floor)

    FI's cousin's wedding they had them. But, that was their only lighting since they had an outdoor under a tent.

    I think if you have the DJ set up in an area by the wooded floor, and tell your venue ppl to set up tables on the outerside of it, people will realize its a dance floor.

    I personally like the look of them a lot. If I wasn't doing string lights I would probably do that.

    I like the way they look. I thought about using something similar but it didn't end up fitting into my somewhat eclectic theme.

    The problem I have is that we're not doing seated tables for everyone (the etiquette board would HATE me for this). We will have plenty of seats - but we're also not having a sit down dinner (there will be plenty of food so no one leaves hungry, though). So around the "dance floor" will be mostly cocktail height tables.

    Although, you are right, Stina & snippet. I don't really "need" them.

    While you don't "need" them, you may want them!  I think that Stina and Snippet are right - people will figure out where the dance floor is if they see a dj, an empty space, and tables around it.  However, that doesn't mean that you can't dress it up a bit.
