How/When do I wear a veil?

How many of you ladies kept/will keep your veil on after the ceremony?

Also, if you are removing, are you taking out the whole comb or does your veil detach?

I don't know what to do!  I'm concerned about getting a headache from leaving it in (I'm notorious for major migraines, especially with hair up or clips, pins etc...), but I don't want to ruin my hair by taking out the comb either.  Will the detachable kind look silly, like a piece of velcro still on my head?

Re: How/When do I wear a veil?

  • I took mine off after the ceremony. The comb slid downwards into my updo, and gravity kept it there without pins. It slid right back out without messing up a single strand.

  • I took mine off sometime during the reception. My hair stylist had asked if I was planning on wearing it all night or not. Because I wasn't, she didn't secure it as well as she could have, she just slid it into my hair. It didn't come out or anything though, and I just had someone slide it right back out without messing up my hair at all.

  • I also have chronic migraines but I was not going to give up wearing my veil all day. I loved being veil going down the aisle and I was definitely going to wear it all night, no matter what. LOL

As a pp said, I took excedrin migraine that morning as well as other meds for the fibromyalgia. :-(

My hair stylist secured my veil really well so it didn't come out. But, if I was only going to wear it for the ceremony and the pictures, then I would have had her only slide it in to my updo and I would have slid it out after I was done with it. I am sure it would have come out fine.

Even if you put it in and secure it very well but you then decide you want to take it out, then your mom and MOH can probably take out the pins securing the veil at the reception. I took out my own veil at the hotel and it was super easy and believe me, it was very well secured! GL! :-)
