Themed shower?

My aunt asked me what type of shower I'd like.  I hadn't much thought about it, so I was just going to tell her to leave it open ended. But I thought I'd ask you gals if you've been to any "themed" showers that were really fun?  any other thoughts?

I'm just using a different color theme that what I have for the wedding (pink, orange and white for the shower) although I am highly considering doing a saturday evening shower from like 5:30-8:30 so me and my girlies can have a night out afterwards. I've been looking at a few wineries for hosting it...just a few ideas for something different although not necessarily "themed" so much :)) Good luck ;))

I guess you could say my shower is somewhat of a theme. It's all about flowers. We're having potted plants on the tables, my invites will have flowers on them, and most of the gifts will have something to do with flowers.

When my MOH got married a few years back, her shower theme was their favorite board game, Scrabble.  It was really cute!  The invite was spelled out with scrabble tiles and each invite contained a special letter.  The game was to bring the bride something that had to do with that letter.  Obviously it was optional and some people didn't participate, but most did and there were some really creative gifts because of it.  Some people brought whatever gift they normally would have, but then wrote something special in the card based on their letter.  Some people went all out and themed their entire gift on the letter...bath towels and accessories for the letter B, cookware for the letter C, etc.

Someone on the boards had a "favorite things" themed shower (can't remember who it was, sorry!).  The shower was based on the bride's favorite things and they had baskets to give as prizes with her favorites inside.  I thought that was a really cute idea, too.

I don't know much about my shower, but when my girls asked me what I would like, I told them a "cocktail" themed shower. I love wearing cocktail dresses and drinking wine, so I thought that would be perfect for me.

Last week I hosted a shower for my best friend. It was a personal shower, but I knew she would be uncomfortable with anything risque. I decided to have a tea party theme and call it an "in-tea-mate" (intimate) tea party. We did things like have the 20 question game where I had interogated the groom before hand, and each time she got a question wrong we had this funny straw hat that someone got to stick a flower into. My friend loved taking pictures in the hat each time- and actually she got a lot of the questions wrong, so she used almost all the fake flowers I had brought.
We had sweet tea, and tea sandwiches and fruit salad. All the feedback I've heard has been great! Most of the girls had only ever been to a drop-in shower. This was their first experiance with a themed shower.
