Opinions needed - dress

I was married last month and want to sell my dress. My dress has dust marks on the underside from the ballroom floor - no stains or marks externally. Should I

1) sell the dress as it is now and have the buyer have it altered, dry cleaned and pressed?

2) dry clean the dress and then ship it after selling??

I worry about the wrinkles from shipping, and the alterations process.

Would you rather purchase a dress already dry cleaned or have it done yourself after alterations?

Re: Opinions needed - dress

  • I wouldn't even think of buying a used dress, so I don't know.  I suppose if I did I would want it clean

  • You may have a better chance of selling it after it's been cleaned.
That was a major selling point when I bought my used dress.
The last thing I wanted was to have to clean it before wearing it myself.
It looked brand new! Also, the person gave me all the original tags, receipts from purchase and cleaning. That made me feel like I owned a brand new dress.
  • I agree that it should be cleaned before you sell it.  I think you'd get more people interested.
  • I think you should clean the dress.  It will also have some sweat and oil stains you should get out asap.
  • Def get it cleaned! What size is it??
  • I would get it cleaned. I would feel kind of icky if I ordered a dress and it came dirty.
  • I definitely wouldn't buy a dirty dress.  Not that I'm calling you dirty, it's just....I wouldn't buy anything that HAD to be cleaned before I could wear it.  From what I understand, most people get their dresses steamed/pressed just before their wedding anyway, but the cleaning should definitely be handled by you.
