OK So my caterer who is already giving me an AMAZING DEAL... Just called me and said one of the wedding he was doing was cancelled and he had already ordered 12 cases of a sparkling wine. He told me he would gift that in my package if I wanted.
In the mean time I was going to have to pay for 8 cases of champagne from the venue for 2 champagne toasts... We are having a NYE wedding.
I dont really drink so I am wondering if people really know the difference or should I say mind the difference (sparkling wine v. champagne)? I come from a family of beer and cocktail drinkers...
I think it would be insane to turn down this gift... I dont want to be tacky...
Re: Dilemma Sparkling Wine or Champagne

[QUOTE]Champagne is a sparkling wine. But the French government highly regulates wine/cheese/etc. so the only sparkling wines that are legally allowed to be called "champagne" are the wines that are grown in the Champagne region in France. There are thousands of incredibly fine, classy, tasty, and expensive "sparkling wines" that are not "Champagne" because they are made in Italy, Spain, California, etc. There are also probably a couple crappy "champagnes" made in the Champagne region in France. Take that gift!!
