Name changing

I have a question about changing my name.... I really want to keep my maiden name and my middle name but am not sure how much of a pain that would be to have 4 names. Do all 4 have to go on your license or just the first middle name?

I would think that all 4 would have to go on my Social Security card so then in turn all 4 would have to be on my license but I am not sure.

I think some girls were saying they weren't allowed to have all four.

I don't see why you can't have all 4 names?  I have seen some awfully long names in certain cultures... You could hyphenate your middle and maiden name or your maiden and married name.  I don't know how it is in TX  but I know in CA I didn't have to include my middle name on my DL if I didn't want to.

I have had four names since birth. My parents originally hyphenated my mom's maiden name with my father's last which was a complete nightmare in school. People were always confused for some reason. However, in 6th grade, they just had the hyphen removed, so I had two middle names. Never caused a problem. They put all four names on my college diploma.
When I got my first driver's license (TX) they didn't put my second last name on it even though my social security card had both. I'm not sure if it didn't fit or what, but the discrepancy never caused a problem.
Just yesterday I went to get a new license with my new name on it. I decided adding another for 5 names total was too much so I became Firstname Originalmiddle Mylast Hislast. I requested all four be put on the license and the lady clarified that I wanted 2 middle names and one last name, then she printed it up just like that. I had no issues putting all four on my SS card.
To make a long story short, in my experience, four names is not a problem as long as you remind the people doing the paperwork that you want 2 middle names. Hyphens tend to make things more complicated. Think about it this way...you hardly ever sign your middle name, so it's kind of there just for you---really you just use your first and last except in formal occasions (graduation, etc.). It should be no problem.

Thanks Fruitysher. I didn't think there would be an "issue" perse just curious about the fact that your airplane tickets now have to have the exact same name that is on your license. Since I fly a lot for work I was thinking about the ramifications of that and whether or not I could just have my Original Name + Original Middle Name + New Last Name on the license and have my social have ON + OMN + Original Last Name + NLN.

Hm well, yes the flying thing would be an important consideration. I am proof it can be done with all four names on the license so just make sure they put it on there. And make sure they know it's an additional middle name and not a last because they go on different lines on the license. Good luck!

I have four names now.  I just added my new last name on to my original name and have two middle names.  When I went to get my license I asked for all four to be on there, but if they won't all fit, I know they will just put three on there.  I am sure you can ask for just the three to be on there.

I'm in the same boat as you. I can't figure out if I want to change mine or not. :( If I did 4 names I think it would be wierd because of my last name now :-/

I made the decision to drop my original middle name, as my new last name is already kind of long. My best friend hyphenated her last name, and thinks it's a pain in the butt, because she technically has to sign two last names now. As far as flying, I've always flown with just a first and last name, and I never had a problem with my travel docs not having my middle name on them.
