Evening Thread/WFD?

Hello all. I hope everyone had a great day.
Mine was interesting.. on a whim when all this school stuff happened, I applied for a team leader position at the company where my other job is. The lady emailed me at 1 asking if I could interview at 4. I went totally unprepared to this interview which ended up biting me in the butt. THis is the first time I've been rejected DURING an interview.. usually they at least think about it.

Oh well. It's obviously not meant to be.

What's for dinner? I have leftovers from Texas Roadhouse from last night. I had a sirloin kebab with seasoned rice. Delish.

Re: Evening Thread/WFD?

• I have been in a miserable funk for about the last 24 hours and I'm not sure what started it, as I had a really nice weekend. I've been trying unsuccessfully to drag myself out of it all day, and I was really busy at work, so it helped some, but I'm still not much better. I think I'm going to take a long, hot shower to see if that helps.

After that, I have to start reading a chapter for Friday, plus pay my bills, and finish my laundry. I'm super overwhelmed right now.

I had a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios for dinner. Yum!

• I always suggest grstitude lists to my clients when they are in a funk chels. Maybe that could help a little. I hit got home from work driving in a down pour. it was no fun at all. And the clouds started cycling which was nerve wracking. But made it home safely. We are having talapia if the power stats on if not, sandwhiches.

• Yummy sushi JCB.
I'm sorry you're feeling crappy Smash. I suggest a glass of wine. That always seems to help :)

I'm not as bummed as I thought about the job cuz idk if I was a good fit or not.. but she didn't even let the itnerview continue so I'll never know. She asked me what my specific numbers were for metrix (call availability, etc) and I told her I didn't have them off the top of my head but I estimated them. Apparently because I applied for a team lead position, I'm supposed to know my metrix. At all times. Even though I'm only here once a week and hadn't been here yet today.... Blegh. She also looked at my once per week and thought it was bad because I wasn't loyal to the team. Then I explained that my job was supposed to be done here in September when I started school, but that I come back one evening a week to help because they are short a person on Mondays. She still didn't seem convinced. Oh well.
• Sorry Chels that sucks. And hugs to you Ash, I hope things turn around for you in a hurry. Dinner tonight is leftover crockpot chicken tacos, so good!
• That sucks, Chels =(. I had a long day full of passive aggressive shiit that I can't wait to be rid of next Thursday at 4pm! Tonight is spaghetti night. When my MIL was here a few weeks ago she bought a shitton of ground beef that I need to get rid of. We don't eat ground beef so I've had a hard time incorporating it, knowing I could be using something better.

• Sounds like her mind was already made up, Chels. That sucks, but maybe just not meant to be.

Glass of wine may be in order, but it'll probably just put me to sleep and I need to be awake to get shiit done. I can't wait until May 13. At least then I'll only have to worry about work work and not schoolwork, too.

My day went better than expected. I usually work in pediatrics but I had an adult patient for one of my studies this morning. I was nervous going into it because I tend to stress too easily. She was really sweet though and everything went smoothly.

We just got back from sushi and now I am doing laundry. FH has been going to bed really early since he started his new job so I am hoping TK behaves so I can amuse myself on here later.

Edit - I post too slow. That stinks Chels but hopefully it will mean better things for you in the end.

• I'm still at work, hoping the rain holds off until I get home. Arizona drivers and rain do not mix well.
Leftover carnitas for dinner tonight.

• Higher ed is fantastic at passive-aggressive bullshit, eh Shay?

Hi ladies! I'm playing with my Kindle and debating ice cream. I already stopped and got pizza for dinner (Rocky Rococo's for you Wisconsinites.) nom freaking nom.

Well she asked me about metrix and I gave her a very accurate estimation. Then she asked about loyalty and whatnot. She wasn't a fan of me leaving my school, even though she's seen the news int he past few weeks and knows what's going on. She talked about loyalty and wanted to know how I kept up on my job here only one night a week and I told her what I did. She eventually flat out told me that I am just missing "gaps" to be the right candidate. She also questioned my French abilities because I haven't lived in Canada before... *sigh*. I'm very aware of the different French between France and Canada. I've done customer service with Canadians for amost two years now. She also was upset I didn't know my exact metrix numbers.. which is crazy because I'm told them once a month and I had no idea I needed to bring them to the interview. I'm supposedly supposed to know all of this.

Oh well. I agree. It probably just wasn't meant to be. I'm just sick of hanging by a string and not knowing what's going to happen in upcoming months.
• I'm glad I have you to commiserate with, Steph! Higher Education: Passive aggressiveness at its finest! Mmmm pizza sounds better than spaghetti. Boo.

• Hiya. I got groceries on my way home from work today so you'd think I had a dinner plan of some kind, no...not really. I accidentally got twice as many ground beef patties (pre shaped) as I meant to get, so maybe we'll have that. Or maybe tacos. I'm indecisive.
• Good evening. Tonight is Meatless Monday, so I had tomato soup. a grilled cheese sandwich and sliced pears (fresh) for dinner.

H's email is all screwed up right now. He hasn't gotten any I've sent all day, so he thinks I'm mad at him. I've tried replying, but he isn't getting them. So damn frustrating.

Mehg, I love tomato soup and grilled cheese! That sounds really yummy right now!

I'm home alone until about 10:30 tonight, so I'm growing increasingly bored. And hungry.

ETA: Ash, I hope you feel better! It was kind of a gloomy day around here. Maybe that contributed to it a bit?

• Dude, we were at a hookah bar on Saturday night, and we ordered grilled cheese from their appetizer menu. I thought it was kinda strange for a Mediterranean place to offer grilled cheese, but they also had chicken strips on the kids menu, so maybe they were just being diverse or something. At the very least, I expected cheese & pita. What they brought out was this white cheese that had been grilled, with tomatoes thrown on top. I was tipsy so I just laughed because it was so damn literal. My friends, though, were not impressed.

[QUOTE]I'm sorry, Chels. But don't you kind of hate your second job? Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. I'm at work for another hour. Wow, grilled cheese sounds really good. We're doing quinoa kale salad for dinner which, surprisingly, also sounds very good to me.

Oh yes. It wouldaw been on a different team and I would have been a step up from where I am at now. But yeah. I'm not letting myself get too upset about it. There's something else in the cards for me that's even better.
• Waiting on H to get home. We'll probably have salmon and asparagus tonight for dinner.

I came home and made my smoothies for breakfast tomorrow. I tried Anna's recipe today and it was delish.

Chel- I would definately keep looking around. Don't get discouraged, as someone else said, she obviously had her mind made up.

• dang, now I want salmon.
• dinner for me is leftover pizza. woo hoo.

I've also been feeling really frustrated with work. I know this isn't what I want to do but I just can't go back to school right now and since I've only been here 9 months I feel like I can't just quit and get a job somewhere else either. Especially since with my experience I've kind of pigeonholed myself into a certain type of career. Some days are worse than others but I am just not meant to be here and I think my managers know that. So basically I just feel stressed about work and future work all the time.

Man I wish it were easy to just up and try a new career!

HA! Isn't it interesting how someone mentions one thing on here and everyone wants it. It's like yawning, it's catchy. Cause I want grilled cheese, but H isnt going for that. He doesnt even know how to make one.

When I was laid up last year he asked me what I wanted I said grilled cheese, he said pick something else I dont know how to make that. My H the cook cant make a sandwich. I had to get up and show him how!

• What kind of job do you have, jenna?

I'm trying to studying (sorta) while waiting for J to get here. He is driving home and staying til Wednesday afternoon because he has 2 doctor appts that he could only get scheduled for tomorrow and wednesday. So I get a mid-week visit from him. :) Only problem is that will be very distracting.

I have an interview scheduled for a summer internship and I think only 6 people total are candidates so I am liking my chances.

• How does one not know how to make a grilled cheese? I could make those when I was like 9 lol
• Exactly, KD! How did he not know how to make grilled cheese? Did you actually have to show him?
• Hi ladies, I am still at work. I am desk shopping. I have no idea what to get. Right now I have an L shape desk but the CW before me had it right smack in the middle of the office so it is not really functional. I am excited to get to remodel the office.
• I do corporate taxes.

But I want to either do HR or teach. Or you know, work as a manager at Bath and Body Works.

• Haha I had salmon last night, with sauteed green beans and a baked potato.

Is it possible to get a stress fracture in your femur? I know it's like the strongest bone in your body, but I have an ache in my right thigh that feels deeper than muscular aches.

Yikes, that sounds really difficult, but I'm terrible with numbers, so ya know. Do you think you'd ever go back to school? I think you'd probably be able to get a manager position at B&B works without another degree, though, ;)

jenna- I understand how you feel, a bit. I'm sure you can get frustrated, especially when you feel stuck.

Luckily, I like my job, I just sometimes think about how it wasn't my first career choice, and if I would be happier in a different field. But like you said, now that I'm in this specialized field, it seems to be more difficult for people to think I can do anything else, even though I have the educational background and skill set necessary for the job I want to do.

How soon could you go back to school?
